Job Description
Thistle, founded in 2013, is a leading health-focused food company committed to making it easy for people to eat well without overthinking it. Dedicated to enhancing individual health and sustainability in the food system, Thistle delivers fully prepared, healthy-by-default meals, snacks, desserts, and organic cold-pressed juices directly to customers. The company’s philosophy centers around the belief that the foundation of good health starts with eating real, whole foods in the right balance and making nutritious, sustainable food accessible and craveable for everyday life. Thistle operates with a strong commitment to environmental and social responsibility, making them a pioneer in the clean eating and sustainable food industry.
The Associate Dishwasher role at Thistle is a vital part of the Culinary Department, reporting directly to the Culinary Supervisor. This position ensures the cleanliness and functionality of all dishware, kitchen equipment, and utensils within the dish room—a critical component in maintaining the high standards of hygiene and safety in the kitchen environment. The dishwasher not only supports the kitchen’s production functions but also helps maintain the workflow efficiency by adhering to strict cleaning protocols, including the handling of allergy-safe equipment and following sanitation best practices. This role demands attention to detail, adherence to GMP and safety guidelines, and the ability to work collaboratively with culinary leadership and the broader kitchen team.
The Dishwasher position is designed for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment and who understand the importance of sanitation in food safety. Responsibilities include operating commercial dishwashing machines, manual dishwashing through a three-compartment sink process, organizing the dish room, logging sanitation and quality control measures, and supporting OSHA compliance. The dishwasher also plays a significant role in safety by identifying equipment issues and ensuring that cleaning supplies and solutions are well-stocked and properly used.
Thistle promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion and values employees' representation and belonging, making it an inclusive workplace that does not discriminate based on legally protected characteristics. This role is ideal for someone with a high school diploma who enjoys working as part of a cross-functional team and is reliable, punctual, and capable of working flexible shifts including weekends and early mornings. Experience in high-volume dishwashing is highly preferred. Dress code considerations include wearing attire suitable for working in wet conditions.
Overall, the Associate Dishwasher at Thistle offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a company that is revolutionizing the way healthy food is delivered, while developing skills in kitchen operations and food safety in a supportive and mission-driven environment.
