The role of Assistant Director of Finance at Chateau Elan is a vital position responsible for supporting the Director of Finance in managing the financial operations of the hotel. This includes safeguarding the hotel's assets and ensuring all financial reporting adheres to generally accepted accounting principles as well as HEI Hotels and Resorts standards. The assistant director will play an essential role in the financial management, accounting practices, accounts receivable and cash flow monitoring, balance sheet reconciliation, and daily departmental management. This position requires a strategic and analytical mindset coupled with detailed knowledge of hospitality finance. The Assistant Director of Finance will perform and oversee accounting functions, effectively manage departmental budgets through labor and purchasing controls, schedule and evaluate accounting staff including night audit teams, and ensure compliance with finance standard operating procedures. This role demands a high level of accountability and the ability to work collaboratively with management and staff to maintain financial integrity and support the business’s operational needs. Job Requirements
- bachelor of science degree in accounting

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- perform all accounting functions in the event assistance is needed
- effectively schedule, monitor, and evaluate controllable departmental expenditures to stay within established budget
- establish and monitor scheduling of all accounting associates including night audit
- schedule personnel consistent with the volume of business and needs
- effectively plan to meet demands of guests and staff
- assist in producing financial statements within designated timeframe
- verify compliance with finance SOP manual
- participate in and critique asset inventories
- maintain records storage in compliance with government retention requirements
- prepare and handle sales tax returns and other applicable tax liabilities
- manage and oversee all accounts receivable functions including collection calls
- ensure A/R aging percentages comply with SOP
- verify credit card processing nightly
- verify timely cash deposits
- assist Director of Finance with balance sheet reconciliation each period
- review problem accounts and adjust ledger entries
- identify, screen, and attract management candidates
- train associates in job responsibilities
- comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly
- perform other job-related duties as assigned
