Job Description

Verizon is a leading telecommunications company renowned for its commitment to innovation and providing exceptional connectivity services to millions of customers across the United States. As a tech giant, Verizon powers and empowers how people live, work, and play by connecting them to the things they love. The company's culture promotes creativity, impact, and inclusion where employees are encouraged to share ideas freely and grow in a stimulating and supportive environment. With a strong focus on community and trust, Verizon’s V Team embodies collaboration and leadership, operating with integrity in every aspect of their work to uplift communities and enhance customer experience alike.

This role is for a Health and Safety Leader who will supervise the design, deployment, and integration of health and safety (H&S) programs for thousands of field technicians and facilities personnel. The position involves managing a distributed team that includes regional safety managers, a Corporate Industrial Hygienist, and a Verizon Ergonomist. The main objective is to ensure that every person returns home safely every day while maintaining operational speed and efficiency. This individual will work closely with the AVP of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and operational partners to align safety strategies with business priorities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining a multi-year EHS roadmap, using risk assessment results to prioritize safety initiatives, and fostering collaboration with internal partners and union representatives to develop effective safety programs and training. A key focus is transitioning the organization from reactive safety compliance to predictive safety management through the implementation of leading-indicator dashboards that identify risk trends before incidents occur. This leader will oversee incident investigations and apply root cause analysis to implement systemic operational improvements using hierarchy of controls.

Additionally, this role serves as the primary point of contact for federal and state regulatory agencies such as OSHA, while promoting a human-organizational performance (HOP) safety culture that encourages psychological safety for reporting near-misses and collaboratively innovating safety practices. Other responsibilities include contractor safety management support, partnering with Risk Management on workers' compensation claims, and driving continual safety improvements through effective leadership and communication.

This hybrid role requires the candidate to work both remotely and on-site with a defined schedule of at least three days per week in the office. Verizon offers a comprehensive benefits package, competitive salary ranging from $103,000 to $198,000 annually depending on location and experience, and multiple incentives including premium pay opportunities. This is an opportunity for a results-driven and detail-oriented professional with strong collaboration, leadership, and analytical skills to join a dynamic team fostering a strong safety culture in a globally respected organization.
