The position available at Food Lion is a Store Manager role focused on supporting the management and operational duties of store activities to meet both financial and sales objectives. This role is critical in fostering strong relationships with associates and customers while promoting a positive culture that aligns with the company’s strategy and values. The Store Manager will maintain consistent and clear communication with management teams and associates across various departments. They will ensure that the store environment upholds excellent security, safety, and food safety standards at all times. This role demands leadership capabilities to motivate staff, effective management of store resources, and the ability to serve as Manager on Duty when the Store Manager is unavailable.

The Store Manager will be responsible for the hiring, training, and development of store associates, managing their performance through coaching and evaluations to build a capable and motivated workforce. They will oversee store merchandising and operations using various company tools such as financial reports, inventory systems, scheduling applications, and ordering platforms. The role ensures the accomplishment of the store’s budgeted financial targets while preserving an enthusiastic, customer-focused atmosphere. Key responsibilities include managing store funds and assets, addressing safety hazards proactively, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and company policies, and maintaining staffing levels that meet operational demands.

Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal skills, strong organizational abilities, and a sound judgment for problem-solving and decision-making. The role requires a certified food safety manager credential or willingness to obtain certification within the initial employment period. Given its operational nature, the position also entails physical demands such as prolonged standing, lifting, and working across variable temperatures. Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Responsible for hiring, training, and developing associates
  • manage performance through performance management, coaching, appraisal and disciplinary efforts
  • provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and Strategy
  • maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast and easy customer service
  • ensure proper control of all store funds and company assets
  • observe and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents
  • observe and ensure compliance with company security, safety, and food safety standards
  • understand and use company tools such as financial reports, average cost inventory system (ACIS), scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems
  • support the achievement of store budgeted financial and operating results
  • serve as Manager on Duty, perform all of the responsibilities of the Store Manager when he or she is not present
  • assist the Store Manager with the day-to-day operations of the entire store
  • serve as a model for customer service and other vital behaviors and instill this value in all associates
  • adhere to all company guidelines, policies and standard practices
  • manage and develop associates to ensure adherence to Standard Practices
  • maximize sales through excellent customer service and minimize shrink through proper utilization of Standard Practices
  • ensure store conditions, customer service and satisfaction, product quality, freshness, availability, variety and execution of all policies and procedures
  • ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations
  • ensure that staffing schedules across departments meet the business needs
  • interacts with associates
  • ensure associates understand Food Lion's expectations and have the tools and training to be successful
  • successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet and Training Aid courses
  • treat all store information as strictly confidential
  • perform all other duties and projects as assigned
