Job Description
BJ's Wholesale Club is a leading membership-based warehouse club that operates across the United States, serving more than 30,000 team members who collectively strive to create daily value for families by providing access to high-quality products at competitive prices. Known for its commitment to member satisfaction, operational excellence, and a dynamic team environment, BJ's Wholesale Club fosters a culture of purpose and opportunity, where employees can grow both personally and professionally. The company emphasizes the importance of its team members by offering comprehensive benefits and work-life balance, highlighting their vital role in contributing to the club’s ongoing success and positive member experiences.
The Assistant Club Manager in Training (AMIT) position at BJ's Wholesale Club is a vital leadership role designed to prepare individuals for managing various operational facets within the club, including Merchandising, Perishables, and Member Experience departments. Working closely with the Club Manager, the AMIT is responsible for driving club performance through direct management of assigned departments and developing strategies to meet business goals. This role involves cultivating a positive club environment, ensuring compliance with policies and safety standards, and enhancing the member experience through the consistent application of BJ’s GOLD standards (Greet, Anticipate, Appreciate; Fast, Friendly, Full, Fresh, Clean).
The AMIT position is an excellent opportunity for seasoned retail or warehouse operations managers aspiring to advance into higher leadership roles. It offers focused development along specific tracks with hands-on experiences that build a deep understanding of business acumen, team leadership, and operational excellence. Moreover, this role requires a proactive approach to leading change, mentoring team members, driving results, and fostering a collaborative culture that supports continuous learning and performance improvement. Serving as a Manager on Duty as needed, the AMIT plays a critical role in managing daily operations, resolving member concerns, and ensuring the club meets all performance and safety standards.
Candidates for this position must hold a valid ServSafe Food Safety Certification and may need additional certifications such as a forklift license or propane qualifier certification in certain states like Florida. BJ’s Wholesale Club supports ongoing training and certification costs and emphasizes the importance of adherence to food safety, OSHA, and sanitation practices. The role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to motivate and lead a large, diverse team. The starting salary for the AMIT position generally begins at $63,750, reflecting the company's dedication to recognizing the expertise and leadership of its management staff.
At BJ’s Wholesale Club, employees enjoy many benefits including weekly pay, complimentary membership cards, generous paid time off, affordable health benefit options, 401(k) retirement plans, and opportunities to purchase company stock at a discount. All these incentives contribute to an inclusive, supportive workplace where team members are empowered to succeed and deliver exceptional service to members. Joining BJ's means being part of a world-class team dedicated to excellence, community impact, and personal growth, making it an attractive employment option for driven professionals in the retail and warehouse sector.
