The Assistant Club Manager in Training (AMIT) role at BJ's Wholesale Club is a pivotal leadership position designed to prepare individuals for future assistant manager roles in Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience departments. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in retail, supermarket, or warehouse operations management
- Ability to lead and motivate teams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to delivering excellent member service
- Knowledge of food safety standards and ability to maintain ServSafe certification
- Forklift operation certification or ability to obtain
- Availability for open shift scheduling
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Basic computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and email
- Ability to comply with physical job demands including lifting and movement
- Willingness to adhere to safety and compliance policies
Job Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience as a retail store, supermarket, or warehouse operations manager
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities including managing cross-functional teams and driving results
- Strong drive for results and solid work ethic
- Excellent communication skills with ability to lead and motivate large teams
- Knowledge of shrink control, staff development, merchandising, customer service, problem solving, and conflict resolution
- Familiarity with store operations including membership, front-line, gas station, tire bay, maintenance, receiving, and omni procedures
- Completion of company training program preferred
- High school diploma and/or college degree preferred
- Basic computer knowledge including MS Word, MS Excel, and email
- Ability to obtain and maintain ServSafe certification
- Forklift operator certification required
- Open shift availability
- Must be at least 18 years old
Job Duties
- Provide strategic department leadership including overseeing daily operations of assigned departments
- Recruit, hire, and onboard team members for assigned departments
- Oversee labor planning and scheduling to align with business trends and budget
- Drive sales, inventory control, and shrink management
- Champion member experience standards including GAA and GOLD service models
- Execute operational readiness ensuring departments are clean, stocked, safe, and ready for business
- Lead department talent management including performance reviews, mentoring, and development
- Utilize tools and reporting for data-driven decision making
- Ensure compliance and safety with food safety, OSHA, and club policies
- Support special initiatives, merchandising transitions, and seasonal sets
- Maintain equipment and facilities and escalate issues promptly
- Provide cross-functional leadership support across departments as needed
- Operate assigned equipment safely, including forklifts
- Maintain regular, predictable, and full attendance
