Joining the team at the San Diego store located at 3066 E. University Ave., this role of Assistant Bakery Operations Manager (ABOM) represents a pivotal leadership development opportunity, designed to cultivate the next generation of Bakery Operations Managers. It is a full-time, hands-on position focused on operational excellence blended with team leadership and administrative ownership. ABOMs are expected to perform at nearly the level of a Bakery Operations Manager (BOM), executing bakery operations with urgency, precision, and accountability while simultaneously building the leadership capabilities necessary to independently manage a bakery.
This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities such as overseeing inventory rotation, staffing coordination, schedule support, and adhering to stringent product quality, cleanliness, food safety, and customer service standards. ABOMs play an integral role in inventory accuracy, shrink control, ordering support, and labor execution to meet operational goals. Moreover, they contribute actively to talent development by assisting in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training new staff, and delivering consistent coaching and real-time performance feedback. ABOMs hold their teams accountable, fostering a growth mindset culture and ensuring training programs meet company standards.
Leadership and ownership are core to this role. Assistant Bakery Operations Managers must be capable of independently managing bakery operations during the absence of the BOM, modeling operational discipline, urgency, and accountability. They act as a reliable operational leader in various coverage scenarios, partnering with BOMs and area leadership to identify gaps and implement solutions. This role presents a clear pathway for upward mobility into a fully-fledged Bakery Operations Manager position.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year leadership experience in restaurant, retail, or hospitality operations
- Ability to coach and develop hourly team members
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-volume environments
- Ability to perform all bakery roles during peak business periods
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Duties
- Execute all core bakery operations including inventory rotation, scheduling support, staffing coordination, and administrative checklists
- Maintain strict adherence to product quality, cleanliness, food safety, and guest experience standards
- Support ordering, inventory accuracy, and shrink control
- Assist in schedule creation and labor execution to meet operational targets
- Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training of new staff
- Deliver consistent coaching and real-time performance feedback
- Hold team members accountable to standards while reinforcing a growth mindset culture
- Ensure onboarding and training programs are executed to company standards
- Manage bakery operations independently in the absence of the BOM
- Model urgency, accountability, and operational discipline
- Partner with BOM and area leadership to identify operational gaps and implement solutions
- Maintain continuity of operations during leadership transitions or staffing shortages
- Other duties as assigned
