This role focuses on planning and executing meetings and special events, with the goal of seamlessly integrating sales and operational activities to maximize efficiency and guest satisfaction. The position involves leading a team to not only meet but exceed daily and weekly targets related to sales, attendance, guest satisfaction, and safety. The candidate will be instrumental in executing departmental strategies aligned with the company’s business goals, enhancing product offerings through market research, and improving operational processes and service delivery. Furthermore, the role requires close collaboration with vendors to optimize event experiences and revenue opportunities, alongside managing budgets and departmental expenses effectively.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years experience in hospitality, event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related area
  • Or 2-year degree from accredited university in hospitality or related major
  • 1 year experience in related field
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Effective communication skills
  • Customer service focus
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Physical ability to perform walk-throughs and manage events

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 2 years experience in hospitality, event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area
  • Or 2-year degree from accredited university in hospitality or related major with 1 year relevant experience
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze market trends and competitor offerings
  • Proficient with event management software and systems
  • Customer service oriented with problem-solving abilities
  • Experience in budget management and cost control
  • Ability to train and develop employees
  • Knowledge of safety and security procedures

Job Duties

  • Assist in planning and execution of meetings and special events
  • Assist in implementation of departmental strategies
  • Promote and assist in execution of all property events with seamless turnover from sales to operations
  • Lead team to meet and exceed daily and weekly goals including sales, attendance, guest satisfaction, safety
  • Research and analyze new products, pricing and services of competition
  • Assist in apprising property of groups impacting operations
  • Conduct daily walk-through of banquet floor to ensure client satisfaction and quality standards
  • Learn, operate and train employees on event software systems such as ticketing, retail, inventory, space usage
  • Assist in developing vendor relationships and service agreements
  • Create opportunities to upsell during event planning
  • Manage department expenses to achieve budget goals
  • Manage merchandise inventory and enhance displays to increase sales
  • Create atmosphere to meet or exceed guest expectations
  • Set positive example for guest relations
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback and handle complaints
  • Empower employees to provide excellent customer service
  • Verify employees understand expectations
  • Strive to improve service performance
  • Emphasize guest satisfaction and continuous improvement
  • Interview, select and train employees
  • Appraise employee productivity for promotions or status changes
