Job Description
Nordstrom is a leading fashion and retail company known for delivering exceptional customer service and high-quality products. Established over a century ago, Nordstrom has grown into a premier destination for fashion-forward shoppers seeking a broad selection of clothing, accessories, and beauty products. The company prides itself on maintaining a customer-centric culture where every team member contributes to creating outstanding shopping experiences. Nordstrom operates full-service upscale department stores and engages in an omnichannel approach, combining in-store service excellence with innovative online shopping options to meet modern consumer needs. Nordstrom’s commitment to employee development, diversity, and community involvement reinforces its position as a desirable employer in the retail industry.
The Assistant Manager role at Nordstrom offers an exciting opportunity to join the leadership team in a dynamic retail environment. As an Assistant Manager, you will play a crucial dual role as both an empowering leader and a consummate teacher. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about the fast-paced food and beverage industry within the retail setting and who aspire to move into a management position. The role begins with completing a comprehensive Manager in Training program that thoroughly covers all aspects needed to run a successful retail unit. Training immerses candidates in day-to-day operations, customer service excellence, staff management, and cost control, equipping you with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel as part of Nordstrom’s leadership.
Your daily responsibilities will involve hiring, training, managing, and motivating a crew dedicated to delivering amazing customer service consistently. Supporting the unit’s success means not only driving high levels of customer satisfaction but also ensuring compliance with company procedures, monitoring productivity, and managing costs effectively. This position requires strong communication skills, basic accounting knowledge, and the ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of a bustling retail location. Career ambition in the food and beverage sector within Nordstrom will be nurtured, with the Assistant Manager role serving as a stepping stone toward full management and beyond.
Nordstrom values its employees as its greatest asset and reflects this in the comprehensive benefits and support it provides. The position offers a competitive hourly pay range of $24.75 to $40.25, which may vary depending on location and experience. In addition, employees may be eligible for performance-based incentives and bonuses that reward dedication and success. Nordstrom’s inclusive work environment encourages continuous learning and growth opportunities while supporting employees’ health, wellness, and work-life balance with medical, vision, dental, life, and disability insurance options as well as paid time off and retirement plans. Nordstrom also supports employees with merchandise discounts and access to employee assistance programs (EAP) to manage work and personal challenges effectively.
Importantly, Nordstrom is committed to compliance with all relevant legal requirements and offers accommodations for applicants with disabilities. The company conducts background checks consistent with local regulations and fosters an equitable hiring process. As a retail employer with multiple locations, Nordstrom carefully considers state and city-specific employment laws and provides transparency about these in its job postings and career site FAQ sections. Overall, the Assistant Manager position at Nordstrom offers an enriching work environment with the opportunity to lead, develop professionally, and contribute to an iconic brand known for outstanding service and quality.
