The role of Assistant Restaurant Manager at Dunkin' is a critical leadership position that supports the Restaurant Manager and shift leaders in the daily operations of the restaurant. This role is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the restaurant run smoothly and efficiently in alignment with Dunkin's standards and franchise policies. The Assistant Restaurant Manager serves as a key player in driving the guest experience, operational efficiency, and team development, stepping in to perform all Restaurant Manager duties in their absence.

This position entails overseeing floor operations, managing Brand Training programs, and providing strong, positive leadership to foster a guest-focused culture. The Assistant Restaurant Manager is integral in implementing brand standards, recipes, and operational systems, as well as managing inventory, labor schedules, costs, and cash handling procedures to maximize profitability. Additionally, this role involves recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training team members while coaching and motivating them to deliver outstanding service and improve overall restaurant performance.

Dedicated to continuous improvement, the Assistant Restaurant Manager also reviews guest feedback to develop action plans and works collaboratively with the Restaurant Manager to implement new product rollouts, marketing efforts, and promotional activities. The successful candidate will be able to maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by enforcing all safety, sanitation, and food safety requirements while complying with applicable laws.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous leadership experience in retail, restaurant, or hospitality
  • Basic computer skills
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Basic math and financial management skills
  • Ability to work standing for extended periods
  • Capability to perform repetitive motions including bending, stooping, and reaching
  • Ability to lift packages if applicable
  • Comfortable wearing a headset if applicable
  • Ability to work in small spaces

Job Duties

  • Perform all responsibilities of restaurant team members
  • Lead team meetings along with restaurant manager
  • Oversee Brand Training programs including scheduling, training, validating, and certifying team and shift lead staff
  • Ensure Brand standards, recipes, and systems are executed
  • Create and maintain a guest focused culture in the restaurant
  • Review guest feedback results and implement action plans to drive improvement
  • Communicate restaurant priorities, goals, and results to restaurant team members
  • Execute new product rollouts including training, marketing, and sampling where applicable
  • Execute Point of Purchase in-store setup per Brand standards
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by enforcing safety, food safety, and sanitation requirements
  • Control costs to help maximize profitability
  • Complete inventory on a periodic basis as determined by Franchisee
  • Support restaurant manager in completion of weekly labor schedule ensuring all shifts are staffed
  • Support restaurant manager in assigning staff and deployment
  • Support restaurant manager in completion of supplier and other vendor orders
  • Conduct self-assessments and corresponding action plans
  • Ensure restaurant budget is met as determined by Franchisee
  • Manage cash over/short in restaurant and ensure compliance with cash management policies
  • Engage with Dunkin' Brands Field Operations team as appropriate
  • Recruit, hire, onboard and develop restaurant team members
  • Assist in performance appraisal process for team and shift leaders
  • Coach team members to drive sales, improve profitability, and guest satisfaction
