Job Description

Sweetgreen is a nationally recognized fast-casual restaurant brand committed to fostering healthier communities by connecting people to real, wholesome food. Founded in 2007, Sweetgreen has revolutionized the fast food concept by emphasizing fresh, flavorful ingredients sourced sustainably through close relationships with farmers and local producers. Their unique approach blends food, culture, and sustainability to create meaningful experiences that impact both communities and individual well-being. Sweetgreen prides itself on a collaborative environment that values inclusivity, development, and a shared passion for making food positive and accessible. Joining Sweetgreen means becoming part of a dynamic movement focused on improving lives and promoting real food culture.

The role of Assistant Coach, also referenced as Assistant General Manager, at Sweetgreen is a critical leadership position aimed at supporting store operations as a strategist, mentor, and hands-on leader. This position demands someone who can inspire the team to achieve operational excellence while ensuring guests receive exceptional experiences rooted in Sweetgreen’s values. The Assistant Coach partners with the Head Coach to set performance goals, analyze operational data, and address challenges effectively. This role requires a focus on food safety, quality, and adherence to brand standards, all while nurturing a positive team culture and coaching emerging leaders.

Assistant Coaches play an essential part in managing both the day-to-day activities of the store and long-term business strategies. Responsibilities span hiring and training team members, scheduling, financial oversight, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations. The position demands a proactive mindset to anticipate and resolve operational hurdles, a strong ability to communicate, and expertise in leveraging performance insights to refine the guest journey. Candidates must exhibit leadership by example, stepping in during peak times or staffing challenges, and fostering a culture of trust, recognition, and growth. Sweetgreen offers competitive compensation including a base salary plus bonus potential, comprehensive benefits, and a clear path for career advancement for those who are dedicated to making a meaningful difference in their communities through fresh, real food.
