Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 years experience in food and beverage, culinary, or related professional area
  • OR 2-year degree from accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major
  • 1 year experience in food and beverage, culinary, or related professional area
  • ability to work full time
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to supervise and motivate employees
  • knowledge of restaurant policies and procedures
  • compliance with health and safety standards
  • willingness to work flexible hours including peak meal periods

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 3 years of relevant food and beverage or culinary experience
  • OR 2-year degree from accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, or related field with 1 year of relevant experience
  • leadership and team supervision skills
  • knowledge of restaurant operations and sanitation standards
  • customer service orientation
  • ability to handle guest complaints and resolve issues
  • good communication and interpersonal skills
  • basic knowledge of local alcohol beverage laws
  • ability to manage budgets and employee performance

Job Duties

  • Handles employee questions and concerns
  • monitors employees to ensure performance expectations are met
  • provides feedback to employees based on observation of service behaviors
  • assists in supervising daily shift operations
  • supervises restaurant and all related areas in the absence of senior management
  • participates in department meetings to communicate goals
  • ensures employees have proper supplies, equipment and uniforms
  • communicates food quality and service level issues to Chef and Manager
  • assists in ensuring compliance with restaurant policies and procedures
  • monitors alcohol service in compliance with local laws
  • assists in achieving or exceeding budgeted goals
  • performs duties of restaurant employees as necessary
  • opens and closes restaurant shifts
  • interacts with guests to obtain feedback on quality and service
  • supervises staffing levels to meet operational and financial goals
  • encourages employees to provide excellent customer service
  • handles guest problems and complaints
  • strives to improve service performance
  • sets a positive example for guest relations
  • reviews comment cards and guest satisfaction with employees
  • meets and greets guests
  • supervises ongoing training initiatives
  • uses on the job training tools
  • communicates performance expectations
  • coaches and counsels employees regarding performance
