Job Description
Job Options Inc. (JOI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing employment and job training opportunities primarily for individuals with disabilities. As an active participant in the AbilityOne Program, JOI partners with federal agencies to deliver exceptional products and services while promoting workforce inclusion. The company’s collaboration with Sodexo highlights a productive relationship focused on delivering high-quality food service and facility management solutions. With a commitment to community impact and operational excellence, JOI stands as a significant employer within the U.S. catering to diverse employee needs while driving social good through meaningful employment.
This role operates under the guidance of the JOI Project Manager and occasionally under the Sodexo General Manager. The primary responsibility is to supervise and coordinate JOI staff at the worksite to ensure all aspects of the contracted Statement of Work (SOW) are met with excellence. This includes overseeing the preparation and service of meals as directed by Sodexo’s culinary team, maintaining cleanliness of dining areas and restrooms, and managing consumable stock levels and waste removal. The position demands a proactive approach to daily facility walkthrough inspections, consistent enforcement of hygiene and sanitation protocols, and direct interaction with employees and customers to uphold service standards.
The role also encompasses significant supervisory duties, including the onboarding and training of new employees with an emphasis on safety and compliance. The supervisor ensures that all regulatory paperwork and government forms are accurately completed and submitted. Communication is key, requiring coordination with the Project Manager and General Manager to address staffing needs, behavioral issues, or operational concerns promptly and effectively. The ability to navigate company policies, union agreements, and human resources information systems is vital to maintaining a harmonious and productive work environment.
Successful candidates will bring at least three years of food service industry experience, including managing teams of 20 or more personnel, customer service, sanitation, training, and safety practices. Educational attainment at the high school level or equivalent is required, while a bachelor’s degree is advantageous but not mandatory. Proficiency in English communication, both written and verbal, arithmetic skills, problem-solving abilities, and computer literacy are essential to perform the job effectively.
Furthermore, the position requires a valid California driver’s license and the willingness to transport employees when needed. Passing a comprehensive background check and obtaining a government-issued base pass is mandatory to comply with security standards at the worksite. Candidates must fully understand and advocate for safety and quality assurance, adhering to the Company’s ISO 9001:2015 quality standards and safety protocols.
Joining JOI means becoming part of a thriving organization that not only values operational success but also champions inclusivity and empowerment through employment. Employees in this role play a critical part in supporting individuals with disabilities, creating a respectful workplace culture, and ensuring federal contract compliance. This full-time position offers an impactful career path within a supportive team environment dedicated to both business performance and social responsibility.
