Working Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, this role offers a competitive hourly wage of $30.50 and a comprehensive set of benefits. The Assistant Pastry Chef will work in a dynamic kitchen environment, supporting the pastry production team while taking a hands-on role in supervising the preparation and presentation of exquisite pastry items. This career opportunity requires a baking or pastry degree and relevant experience, including proficiency in knife skills essential for efficient and safe kitchen operations.

In addition, you will monitor and uphold sanitation and maintenance standards within the pastry kitchen, adhering strictly to federal, state, and corporate regulations to sustain a safe and hygienic work environment.

Leadership and team development form a crucial part of this role. The Assistant Pastry Chef will assist with interviewing, scheduling, payroll management, training, counseling, and performance reviews for pastry kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and motivated team. Participation in menu planning, especially for seasonal offerings, and managing inventory by ordering and maintaining pastry supplies to appropriate levels are additional responsibilities. Restaurant Associates encourages innovation and quality, allowing pastry chefs to contribute creatively while aligning with organizational standards.

Working at Restaurant Associates means being part of a company that values its associates beyond just professional development. The organization promotes safety and quality through mandatory use of protective gear such as cut gloves and slip-resistant footwear along with proper handling techniques. Associates may also be eligible for paid and/or unpaid time off depending on applicable laws.

Overall, this role offers a competitive salary within the range of $60,000 to $84,000 per year, a supportive work environment, and an outstanding opportunity to grow within a leading culinary company at a prestigious academic institution.
