Job Description

Jack in the Box, Inc. is a leading fast-food restaurant chain recognized for its innovative menu, quality food, and customer-focused service. Founded in 1951, the company has grown significantly, establishing a strong presence throughout the United States with numerous locations. Known for its commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, Jack in the Box values both its customers and employees, fostering a culture based on integrity, respect, and teamwork. As a brand, it emphasizes delivering exceptional guest experiences while maintaining operational efficiency and compliance with all regulatory standards. The company is committed to providing a restaurant environment that is friendly, fun, clean, and safe, supporting employee growth and development as a core part of its business philosophy.

The role of Assistant Restaurant Manager at Jack in the Box is pivotal in supporting and managing restaurant operations effectively. This position operates in conjunction with or in the absence of the Restaurant Manager, exercising discretion in daily management decisions. The primary responsibility of the Assistant Restaurant Manager is to ensure the effective execution of the Service Profit Chain (SPC) and uphold the Brand Promise. This involves providing outstanding internal service by recruiting, selecting, training, developing, and evaluating restaurant employees to build a highly skilled and motivated team. The individual in this role must also focus on external service by managing daily restaurant activities aimed at enhancing operational performance and guest satisfaction.

The Assistant Restaurant Manager supervises food quality, safety, and restaurant cleanliness, ensuring compliance with company procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements. This role demands active leadership in fostering a culture that embodies Jack in the Box values such as integrity, honesty, and respect for both employees and guests. The role emphasizes continuous improvement and includes responsibilities such as performance coaching, employee development, handling guest concerns, and maintaining a positive brand image. Additionally, the Assistant Restaurant Manager partners with the Restaurant Manager to analyze operational and financial reports, using data-driven insights to develop action plans that increase sales, profitability, and overall business success.

This is a hands-on management role requiring a blend of operational oversight, staff development, financial acumen, and guest service excellence. The Assistant Restaurant Manager is expected to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage change effectively, and demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and commitment to the business. This position typically requires standing and walking for most of the shift, lifting and carrying items, and using a computer and restaurant equipment. Jack in the Box supports reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities, ensuring equal opportunities and the ability to perform essential job functions effectively. Overall, this role is key to driving the success of the restaurant while ensuring that all stakeholders—employees, guests, and the brand—experience positive outcomes through dedicated leadership and operational excellence.
