Job Description
Panda Express, founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, is the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States. With nearly 2,800 locations worldwide, Panda Express has become a leading name in the fast-casual dining industry, known for delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences. The company emphasizes family values and a supportive community where both personal and professional growth are highly encouraged. Panda Express not only prioritizes exceptional guest experiences but also invests deeply in the development of its associates. The organization offers a welcoming and inclusive work environment, promoting diversity and equal opportunities for all individuals regardless of gender, race, religion, disability, age, or veteran status.
As an Assistant Manager at Panda Express, you will play a critical role in the successful operation of a single store. The company is looking for experienced leaders who are passionate about guiding a team towards achieving financial goals and delivering outstanding customer experiences every day. Your responsibilities will include hiring, managing, and directing store associates while implementing strategies that contribute to the growth and success of the location. To ensure your success in this leadership position, Panda Express provides paid store management leadership training and mentorship through a supportive Panda community that is committed to your long-term career advancement.
The role is dynamic and requires flexibility as you will manage operational tasks along with coaching and motivating your team to meet business objectives. You can expect to work a flexible schedule that may include opening and closing shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings based on business needs. The company’s emphasis on providing a comprehensive training program, which lasts three or more weeks, ensures that you are fully prepared to meet the high standards Panda Express is known for. This role demands strong communication skills, adaptability to a fast-paced environment, and the ability to handle conflict or difficult situations professionally.
Additionally, this position requires physical stamina. The work environment in the kitchen involves standing for long periods, managing hot and cold food preparation, using kitchen equipment safely, and lifting up to 50 pounds. As with any food service establishment, sanitation and safety standards are paramount, and you must hold or be willing to obtain Serve Safe certification. Panda Express also expects an Assistant Manager to be flexible in terms of location, with the understanding that you may need to relocate within a 50-mile radius for the right opportunity.
Panda Express is not just a restaurant—it’s a community that supports career development, values diversity, encourages teamwork, and promotes a culture where everyone is inspired to better their lives. Joining Panda Express means becoming part of a nationwide family committed to innovation, quality, and excellence in the fast-casual dining experience. Whether you're starting your management career or elevating your leadership skills, Panda Express offers an environment where your dedication and talents can truly flourish. This full-time role offers competitive compensation and the chance to lead a thriving store in an exciting and fast-paced industry.
