Job Description

Panda Express, founded in Glendale, California, is the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States. Since its inception in 1983, Panda Express has grown to nearly 2,800 locations worldwide, delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences to millions of guests. As a company, Panda Express is deeply committed to embodying family values and fostering an environment that inspires its associates to improve both their professional skills and personal lives. This commitment is reflected in the company’s culture of mentorship, support, and comprehensive leadership training, which prepares team members for successful and rewarding careers within the organization. Panda Express prides itself on being an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to diversity and inclusion, and providing reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to ensure equal access to employment opportunities for all individuals.

The Assistant Manager role at Panda Express is a pivotal leadership position responsible for supporting the operation of a single restaurant location. This key role involves overseeing the daily business functions, including managing and directing a team of associates, hiring new personnel, and ensuring the achievement of financial goals. Assistant Managers are instrumental in driving store success and maintaining high standards of guest experience by promoting a culture of quality, service, and teamwork. To equip candidates for success, Panda Express provides an extensive paid Store Management Leadership Training program lasting three or more weeks, designed to develop managerial skills, business acumen, and operational expertise.

This position requires a flexible individual who can accommodate various shifts including opening and closing responsibilities, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business needs dictate. The Assistant Manager role also necessitates compliance with food safety standards, including mandatory Serve Safe certification, to ensure the health and safety of both guests and team members. Working in a fast-paced environment, the Assistant Manager must be able to thrive under pressure, communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and adapt dynamically to shifting priorities. Physical aspects of the role include standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing duties in a bustling kitchen environment with heat and noise.

By joining Panda Express as an Assistant Manager, candidates become part of a recognized industry leader dedicated to the professional growth of its team. The company fosters a team-oriented culture where developing future leaders is a core value. This role offers an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals seeking a challenging and rewarding career within the vibrant food service industry, supported by a company that values diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity for all employees.
