The role described is an entry-level management position within the Rooms Operations department at JW Marriott located in Dallas, Texas. This full-time management position plays a crucial role in supporting and managing daily operations involving multiple areas such as Housekeeping, Recreation, Laundry, Staff, AYS (Associate Yield System), and Concierge/Guest Services. The position is designed to assist in overseeing guest arrival and departure procedures alongside maintaining the property’s cleanliness and service standards. In this role, the candidate will work closely with employees to implement operational procedures, employee scheduling, and performance management to ensure seamless service delivery and optimal guest satisfaction levels. The candidate will be responsible for opening and closing front desk shifts, running critical room operations reports, and understanding the functional aspects of each department involved in room operations. They will ensure that staff are properly equipped with supplies and uniforms, understand night audit procedures, and comply with loss prevention policies.

Additionally, the candidate will contribute to managing budget-related aspects of room operations by supervising sales procedures, verifying room rate accuracy, using financial reports to assist management, and participating in controlling departmental expenses to meet or exceed budget goals. The role demands a hands-on approach to managing guest experiences by addressing guest feedback, handling complaints efficiently, promoting guest recognition programs, and maintaining high standards of guest relations.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 years experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area
  • OR 2-year degree from accredited university in hotel and restaurant management, hospitality, business administration, or related major
  • 1 year experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related area
  • Ability to work full time

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 3 years experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area
  • OR 2-year degree from accredited university in hotel and restaurant management, hospitality, business administration, or related major with 1 year experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related area
  • Strong knowledge of room operations and hospitality industry standards
  • Ability to manage and schedule staff effectively
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Opens and closes front desk shifts and housekeeping ensuring completion of assigned shift checklist and other duties
  • Runs and reviews critical information contained in room operations reports
  • Understands the functions of recreation, laundry, housekeeping, bell staff, AYS, front desk and concierge/guest services operations
  • Operates all department equipment as necessary and reports malfunctions
  • Ensures employees have the proper supplies and uniforms
  • Understands night audit procedures and utilizes reports as necessary
  • Complies with loss prevention policies and procedures
  • Communicates performance expectations to employees in accordance with job descriptions
  • Handles employee questions and concerns
  • Effectively schedules employees to business demands and tracks employee time and attendance
  • Supervises same day selling procedures to maximize room revenue and property occupancy
  • Verifies accuracy of room rates to maximize revenue opportunities
  • Uses budgets, operating statements and payroll progress reports to assist in management
  • Participates in management of departmental controllable expenses to achieve budget goals
  • Understands impact of room operations on overall property financial goals
  • Assists in investigation of employee and guest accidents
  • Supports guest information tracking system for repeat guest recognition
  • Sets a positive example for guest relations
  • Interacts with guests to obtain feedback and handles guest complaints effectively
  • Reviews comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees
