Job Description
IHOP, a renowned full-service restaurant chain famous for its delicious pancakes and commitment to hospitality, is looking to hire an Assistant Manager to lead daily operations and foster team development. Established as a leader in the casual dining industry, IHOP offers a welcoming environment where guests feel at home and team members can grow in their careers. The company takes pride in creating memorable dining experiences for families, individuals, and communities across its many locations. As an employer, IHOP emphasizes respect, inclusivity, and strong leadership to maintain high standards in food quality, service, and cleanliness. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about restaurant management and eager to contribute to a dynamic team in a fast-paced, full-service setting.
The Assistant Manager at IHOP is a critical leadership role and an essential partner to the General Manager. This role involves managing shift performance, supporting the execution of brand standards, and ensuring that each day’s operations meet IHOP’s high expectations. The Assistant Manager helps lead the team by coaching and developing staff, driving operational efficiency, and maintaining excellent customer service. This role offers significant opportunities for growth, especially for those who wish to advance their careers in restaurant management. The Assistant Manager is responsible for daily restaurant operations across assigned shifts, including food quality oversight, cleanliness, hospitality, and service excellence. Additionally, the role requires managing labor costs, waste reduction, and supporting sales-driving initiatives.
Individuals in this role deliver strong leadership and mentoring to build a robust team culture, emphasizing accountability and continuous improvement. They participate actively in recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, and training to build a skilled, motivated workforce. This position also demands close attention to compliance, including adherence to labor laws, food safety standards, and company policies. The Assistant Manager ensures proper documentation, reporting accuracy, and supports a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplace environment.
Candidates in this role should possess excellent decision-making skills, a high level of financial awareness, and technological proficiency with POS systems, labor scheduling tools, business reporting platforms, and training programs. Familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar tools is also expected. The work environment is fast paced and requires physical stamina, including standing and walking for long hours, lifting, and working in high-temperature kitchen areas. The Assistant Manager should be adaptable and able to thrive under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and strong communication skills.
IHOP offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $17.87 to $24.54, depending on location and experience. Employees are also eligible for daily tips, with guaranteed earnings that meet or exceed applicable state minimums. The company provides comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage (based on eligibility), a 401k plan after one year and 1000 hours worked, paid time off, and voluntary supplemental insurance options. The work schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required by business needs.
Joining IHOP means becoming part of a family-centered culture where team members create lifelong friendships while delivering exceptional guest experiences. If you are ready to lead with impact and help spread happiness one pancake at a time, this is the perfect opportunity to advance your career with a respected brand dedicated to quality and hospitality.
