The Person in Charge (PIC) role at Jimmy John's Coon Rapids/Riverdale Blvd is a critical position responsible for overseeing restaurant operations in the absence of the General Manager. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to advance their careers into retail food service management. The PIC manages all functions of the restaurant, including staff supervision, food preparation, and customer service, ensuring that the restaurant operates efficiently and profitably while maintaining a clean and organized environment. The role commands a pay range between $17.00 and $18.00 per hour and involves working a minimum of 50-60 hours per week, often including overtime, holidays, and weekends.

The assistant manager-level responsibilities include managing a team of 3 to 15 employees, conducting staff evaluations, and recommending promotions, transfers, or terminations based on employee performance. The PIC is responsible for training new staff, delegating ordering and inventory management tasks, forecasting food consumption, and supervising daily food preparation and service. Communication is key, as the PIC interacts with multiple levels of the organization and must address both customer and employee issues promptly and effectively. The role also requires the ability to handle financial responsibilities, such as managing cash drawers and completing daily paperwork, while ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Job Duties

  • Manage a staff of approximately 3 to 15 employees
  • Assign, oversee and evaluate work
  • Recommend promotion, transfer or termination of employees based on performance
  • Provide on-the-job training for new employees
  • Delegate and is responsible for the ordering, receipt, storage and issuing of all food, labor, equipment, cleaning, and paper supplies for the unit to ensure a minimum loss from waste or theft
  • Assist in the supervision of the preparation, sales, and service of food
  • Forecast food items
  • Estimate what amount of each food items will be consumed per shift
  • Supervise food preparation and service operations while on duty
  • Assist in-shoppers during rush periods to ensure the maintenance of restaurant efficiency
  • Assist in-shoppers in greeting customers, taking orders, using the cash register, assembling order and checking for completeness and correctness
  • Ensure that every customer receives world-class customer service
  • Route deliveries and serve drivers to maximize delivery business and speed
  • Complete daily food preparation (opening procedures, meat and vegetable slicing, bread production)
  • Complete Closing Procedures
  • Execute systems and procedures with 100 percent integrity and completeness
  • Complete daily and weekly paperwork
  • Responsible for 100 percent of the cash drawers at all times during the shift
  • Receive and store product
  • Audit previous shift’s systems and procedures for 100 percent integrity and completeness
  • Complete preventive maintenance and upkeep on store’s equipment and supplies
  • Maintain professional appearance at all times in compliance with the Jimmy John’s Dress Code
  • Display a positive and enthusiastic approach to all assignments
  • Perform other related duties as required
