The role of Assistant Kitchen Manager at The Salty is essential to maintaining the exemplary standards of the kitchen operation. This position works closely with the Pastry Chef and Kitchen Manager to supervise the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring that all products meet the company’s high-quality benchmarks. The Assistant Kitchen Manager undergoes extensive training designed to provide a strong foundation in product knowledge and operational skills, enabling them to effectively train team members and handle a variety of kitchen situations. This is a full-time role with a competitive weekly salary plus bonus, offering schedule flexibility with an expectation of 45-50 hours per week. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in a culinary or kitchen environment
  • ability to work 45-50 hours per week including weekends and holidays
  • physical ability to stand for up to 10 hours, bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 30 pounds
  • fluency in English
  • willingness to undergo extensive on-the-job training
  • strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in kitchen management or related culinary leadership roles
  • strong knowledge of pastry or baking disciplines including dough mixing, baking, frying, decoration, and preparation
  • ability to train and lead kitchen staff effectively
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • commitment to food quality and safety standards
  • proficiency in English for communication
  • leadership experience with an emphasis on team-building and positive reinforcement

Job Duties

  • Acting in a responsible manner that promotes the culture, values and mission of The Salty Donut
  • setting the example for their team by maintaining consistent attendance and punctuality
  • directing the team to ensure proper training and updates them as needed of any changes that need be made
  • ensuring all of the BOH team members uphold Salty’s standards of product quality
  • training new team members on the respective station in the kitchen where they’ll be working, as needed, during their orientation/onboarding/training period
  • communicating effectively with other leaders in the kitchen which include the Pastry Chef and other leads
  • forming a strong, cohesive team that enjoys working together by providing an environment that promotes growth and accountability with a humanized leadership approach
