The role of Assistant General Manager at Gold's Gym is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and fitness-oriented professional who seeks to drive the success of a gym location alongside the General Manager. This position involves a comprehensive responsibility for the daily operations of the gym, including critical aspects such as hiring, training, developing, and engaging both team members and members. The Assistant General Manager acts as a key leader who helps translate the company’s mission and vision into tangible member experiences and operational successes.

In this position, you will be the eyes and ears on the gym floor, ensuring that all operational elements—from profit and loss management to customer engagement and facility safety—are running smoothly. Your involvement in club operations includes overseeing financial aspects like membership sales, labor costs, inventory management, concessions, and facilities maintenance to ensure profitability. Moreover, you will work closely with marketing to boost the gym's digital presence and community engagement.

Fitness expertise is central to this role. You will manage fitness teams, including personal trainers and group fitness instructors, ensuring they provide a fun and effective fitness experience. This includes onboarding new trainers, managing schedules, maintaining certifications, and auditing services for quality assurance. Engaging directly with members on the gym floor to support their fitness journeys is also a vital part of your responsibilities.

Creating an exceptional member experience is at the heart of this role. As a charismatic and motivational leader, you will lead by example, nurture a high level of customer service, and respond proactively to member feedback through various channels. You will also oversee compliance and safety requirements, ensuring the gym environment is secure and operational.

The Assistant General Manager must be a skilled multi-tasker, capable of managing multiple requests and workflows simultaneously with poise and efficiency. You will ensure that team members execute their responsibilities effectively while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety throughout the facility.

This role requires someone passionate about fitness who can serve as a local brand ambassador. You will actively participate in the community, represent Gold's Gym’s values, and drive operational excellence to ensure the gym’s overall success. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field is desirable
  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience
  • Prior experience in personal training or managing personal trainers preferred
  • Strong understanding of operations and performance metrics including P and L and labor management
  • Experience with employee relations and facility maintenance
  • Ability to partner with third-party vendors and internal support teams
  • Maintain flexible and reliable schedule including outside typical business hours
  • Proven ability to build relationships and a customer-centric attitude
  • Proactive with excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years management experience preferably in fitness or hospitality
  • Prior experience in personal training or managing trainers preferred
  • Strong understanding of operations including profit and loss, budgeting, inventory, and labor management
  • Ability to manage employee relations and facilities maintenance
  • Experience partnering with vendors and internal teams for operational success
  • Knowledge of Gold Gym products and target demographics

Job Duties

  • Support the management of the gym's profit and loss, including membership, labor, inventory, concessions, repairs and maintenance, and overall operations
  • Promote and manage the gym's social media and digital presence in partnership with marketing
  • Assist in hiring, training, developing, and mentoring gym team members
  • Manage fitness team members, including hiring and onboarding personal trainers and group fitness instructors
  • Oversee scheduling, training certifications, and quality audits of trainers
  • Engage with members on the gym floor and assist with fitness needs
  • Monitor and evaluate Gold's Studio programs, including membership engagement and scheduling
  • Ensure delivery of exceptional member experiences and lead by example
  • Respond to member feedback through Google Reviews, social media, and surveys
  • Perform audits for safety, maintenance, and compliance
  • Engage and participate in the local community as a brand ambassador
  • Ensure facility cleanliness and equipment inspections are conducted
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
  • Walk the gym floor to supervise and support team members
  • Maintain operational efficiency and safety standards
