The role of Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Tatte Bakery & Café is a full-time management position integral to the successful opening and ongoing operation of the Manhattan café location. The AGM position comes with a competitive salary range typically between $65,000 and $77,000 annually, reflective of the candidate's experience, along with various benefit perks that support both professional and personal well-being. The Assistant General Manager is pivotal in orchestrating an outstanding guest experience, working directly with a passionate front-of-house team during opening, mid, or closing shifts. This role includes stepping into the responsibilities of the General Manager (GM) in their absence, serving as a leader and role model who inspires and drives the team towards excellence. Key responsibilities include supporting daily operations, upholding Tatte's renowned service and product standards, and ensuring the smooth running of the café with a focus on authentic and warm customer interactions. The AGM is also deeply involved in recruiting and developing talent that aligns with Tatte's cultural values, managing team performance, handling challenging conversations with professionalism, and contributing to operational success through efficient execution and adherence to cost controls. Job Requirements

  • Minimum one year of experience working as a manager, preferably in a high-volume, full service and/or polished fast casual restaurant
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced, ever changing work environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • High integrity and professionalism
  • High School education or equivalent

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of experience working as a manager, preferably in a high-volume, full service and/or polished fast casual restaurant
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced, ever changing work environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • High integrity and professionalism
  • High School education or equivalent
  • Hospitality education such as B.S. in Hospitality Management or A.S. in Hotel and Restaurant Management preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Previous experience working with UltiPro, Toast - POS System, CrunchTime/TeamworX preferred
  • ServSafe, Allergen and ChokeSaver certifications preferred

Job Duties

  • Supports the GM in ownership of the business and ensuring that the day to day operations run smoothly
  • Models authentic, warm guest experience and instills great service in team
  • Successfully identifies individuals that embody Tatte’s cultural values and supports recruiting, hiring, and training of new talent to ensure outstanding guest service
  • Demonstrates people performance management skills with the ability to identify talent and develop managers and hourly team members
  • Possesses capability to lead and navigate hard conversations
  • Continuously upholds Tatte brand and visual standards
  • Leads team members through effective and efficient operational execution
  • Ensures food safety in the café
  • Supports the GM in café-level change management activities to ensure effective and accurate communication of new product, service and operational information
  • Contributes to food, labor and controllable costs that are consistently within company guardrails
  • Helps GM to own café administrative requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
