Job Description

Border Foods is a prominent and rapidly growing privately held franchisee of Taco Bell, established from an entrepreneurial vision shared between two brothers to open a Mexican restaurant. Over time, they have evolved into one of the nation's largest family-owned operators of Taco Bell establishments, fostering a robust, community-oriented culture. Rooted in a strong people-first approach, Border Foods emphasizes the importance of every team member—from cooks and cashiers to restaurant managers—in upholding the core values that define the company: Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment. Their commitment to excellence has created a dynamic work environment that encourages personal growth, collaborative team efforts, and a consistent focus on delivering exceptional guest experiences.

The Assistant Manager role at Border Foods is designed to embody and reinforce these core values. The position focuses on enhancing the lives of both employees and customers by creating a supportive, safe, and welcoming atmosphere where individuals can flourish. As an assistant manager, you will hold a critical responsibility for managing the overall operations of the restaurant, building strong teams, and ensuring customers consistently receive excellent food and service. This role offers an opportunity to engage directly with the Border Foods family, contributing to a mission centered around making lives better through dedicated leadership, operational efficiency, and empowerment.

Beyond operational management, the position delivers significant benefits, including top pay in the industry, flexible scheduling, and a bonus program with the possibility of earning an extra $20,000 annually. The company also offers extensive education initiatives such as GED and tuition reimbursement programs, scholarship opportunities, and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits available to all employees—even part-time. Additional perks include free food, paid time off with vacation, sick and holiday pay, a vacation donation program, and a culture that supports career advancement.

At its core, the Assistant Manager is a strategic planner and team leader who uses financial acumen—including P&L interpretation—to drive profitability and operational success. You will be responsible for recruiting, training, and developing outstanding team members, enforcing health and safety standards, and maintaining high customer service standards. This role requires someone who can navigate complex situations with integrity and provide decisive guidance while fostering a positive work environment through recognition and support. You will actively coach and empower team members, creating a culture where everyone feels valued and motivated to perform at their best.

Working at Border Foods means joining a company that values integrity and accountability in both customer interactions and team management. The Assistant Manager is a cornerstone in building unity through cross-functional teamwork and effective communication. You will be expected to manage schedules effectively, monitor performance, resolve employee issues, and consistently represent Border Foods in handling customer concerns. With a minimum workweek of 50 hours, this management role demands dedication, flexibility in scheduling—including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays—and a commitment to upholding local, state, and federal regulations.

By joining Border Foods, you become part of a legacy that started with a simple idea and has grown into a leader in the quick-service restaurant industry. The company prides itself on being an equal opportunity employer, promoting diversity and inclusion across all levels of employment, including minorities, women, protected veterans, and individuals with disabilities. If you are passionate about leadership, teamwork, and delivering exceptional guest experiences in a fast-paced environment, the Assistant Manager position at Border Foods offers a rewarding and growth-oriented career pathway.
