Job Description

This job opportunity is offered by an independently owned and operated hotel franchise located at 1000 Fairgrounds Dr, Vallejo, California. The property is managed by Johnson Hospitality, a separate entity from Marriott International, Inc. This distinction means that all employment policies, staffing, compensation, and benefits are managed solely by Johnson Hospitality, offering a unique working environment distinct from larger corporate structures. The hotel embodies a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences aligned with the brand standards while promoting a culture of teamwork and operational excellence.

The position available is a full-time management role within the Property Leadership category. The salary range for this role is competitive, offering between $72,000 and $80,000 annually, reflecting the responsibilities and level of leadership required. The role is based on-site at the Vallejo location, ensuring active day-to-day involvement in hotel operations.

As an Assistant General Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the General Manager by overseeing all departments, including front office, housekeeping, sales, and engineering. Your primary objective will be to enhance profitability, achieve budget goals, and maintain high service and operational standards. This role requires strong leadership skills to motivate departmental teams, promote efficient scheduling, and ensure compliance with brand initiatives.

A significant part of the role includes managing employee engagement, fostering a service-oriented culture, and maintaining high guest satisfaction scores. You will be responsible for quality assurance, operational inspections, and coordinating emergency procedures training. Financial oversight and operational accuracy are key aspects, including managing accounts receivable, budget monitoring, and ensuring proper cash control systems. Active participation in guest service recovery using the L.E.A.R.N model highlights the importance of guest relations in this role.

In addition to administrative duties, the role demands a hands-on approach, such as overseeing breakfast service and conducting regular inspections for cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards. You will also handle communications across departments and lead initiatives for employee recognition and development.

Ultimately, this Assistant General Manager position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the hotel's success and guest experience by ensuring operational efficiency, staff motivation, and adherence to high-quality standards. This role is ideal for candidates with proven management experience in hospitality, strong interpersonal skills, and a proactive leadership style committed to excellence.
