Job Description
Border Foods started as a simple idea between two brothers to open a Mexican restaurant and has now expanded to become one of the largest privately held Taco Bell franchisees in America. Known for its commitment to a people-first mantra, Border Foods focuses on fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment where every team member can thrive. From cooks to cashiers to restaurant managers, the company emphasizes its Core Values: Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment. The organization prides itself on its commitment to employee growth, offering numerous opportunities for professional development and career advancement within a company culture that values each person’s contribution and promotes continuous learning and evolution.
As an Assistant Manager at Border Foods, you will play a critical role in reinforcing these Core Values while leading the operations of one of their successful restaurants. This role goes beyond basic management tasks — it involves building a strong, cohesive team that consistently delivers great food and a friendly experience for customers. The Assistant Manager’s mission is to unlock the full potential of employees and enhance the restaurant experience by creating safe, welcoming, and supportive environments for both staff and guests. You will be responsible for ensuring that all operational standards are met in compliance with local, state, and federal laws while driving exceptional customer service and food quality.
This position offers industry-leading pay with flexible scheduling and a bonus program that can add up to an additional $20,000 annually. The company supports educational advancement through GED and tuition reimbursement programs, along with scholarship opportunities. Medical, dental, and vision benefits are available to all employees, including part-time positions. Other perks include free food, paid vacation time, sick leave, holiday pay, and even a vacation donation program. Border Foods is dedicated to maintaining an inclusive culture that encourages growth and supports its employees’ careers, making this role ideal for someone seeking a dynamic and rewarding leadership opportunity in the food service industry.
The Assistant Manager role also emphasizes leadership qualities such as accountability, integrity, and empowerment. You will guide and support your team through effective coaching, training, and communication while strategically planning for both short-term and long-term restaurant success. You'll be involved in recruiting, hiring, and developing team members, helping to build their capabilities and fostering a positive workplace environment. Operational responsibilities include maintaining food safety standards, managing point of sale systems, labor and inventory control, and minimizing loss through rigorous cash handling practices. This non-exempt management position requires a strong commitment, including working a minimum of 50 hours per week with flexibility to cover early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Joining Border Foods as an Assistant Manager means becoming part of a company that values integrity and teamwork while striving for excellence in every aspect of the restaurant experience. This role is suited for someone with restaurant or retail experience who is motivated to lead by example, drive results, and create an environment where both employees and customers feel valued and appreciated. Border Foods is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer, embracing diversity and inclusion throughout its workforce.
