With over $15 billion of assets under management and a global presence comprising more than 400 hotels across North America, Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America, Highgate has solidified its position as a leader in the hospitality industry. Established with a 30-year legacy of innovation and excellence, the company excels in guiding hotel properties through every stage of their lifecycle, from initial planning and development to recapitalization and disposition. Highgate's portfolio is diverse, encompassing bespoke lifestyle hotel brands, legacy brands, and independent resorts, all of which benefit from contemporary programming and a strong digital focus.
Highgate employs cutting-edge revenue management technologies to identify market trends and maximize asset value, delivering significant returns to hotel owners and partners. Its executive team consists of seasoned hospitality professionals who bring deep operational and strategic knowledge to the company's worldwide corporate offices. Serving as a trusted partner to top ownership groups and major hotel brands, Highgate continues to set benchmarks in hotel management and real estate investment.
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) position at the Residence Inn Salinas located at 17215 El Rancho Way, Salinas, CA is an opportunity to join a dynamic team focused on operational excellence and guest satisfaction. As AGM, you will be instrumental in driving hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost management, and employee development while ensuring the hotel meets the highest standards of quality and service. This full-time role offers a competitive yearly salary ranging from USD 43,200 to USD 72,000.
In this role, the AGM is a key player in sales and marketing efforts, engaging with top accounts and clients through direct meetings, receptions, and continuous relationship building on the property. Daily oversight of hotel operations, coordination with department heads, and conducting weekly staff meetings with training sessions are crucial functions to uphold Highgate’s standards. Financial acumen is essential, as the AGM is responsible for meeting financial review schedules, monitoring budgets, and forecasting monthly hotel financial positions by analyzing both historical data and future projections.
Employee growth is prioritized, with the AGM tasked to develop managers for career advancement through competency training and corporate programs. Ensuring adherence to hotel policies and procedures, particularly around service standards and employee conduct, is an ongoing responsibility. The AGM actively participates in management staffing decisions including interviews, performance appraisals, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions following Highgate protocols.
Maintaining the physical property’s cleanliness and maintenance through regular inspections alongside housekeeping and engineering leadership is vital to preserving guest satisfaction and brand integrity. The AGM also plays a proactive role in handling hotel security protocols, invoice processing via accounts payable, credit meetings, and collection policies. A visible presence in public hotel areas during peak periods to greet guests and assist as needed exemplifies the AGM’s commitment to a guest-centered and team-oriented environment.
This position demands strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced hospitality environment. If you are passionate about hospitality management, enjoy working in a collaborative setting, and are committed to driving operational success, this role offers a rewarding career path within a respected global hospitality firm.
