Job Description

Wagamama is a renowned restaurant group celebrated for its vibrant and contemporary approach to Asian-inspired cuisine. Rooted in the philosophy of continuous improvement, or kaizen, Wagamama fosters a unique culture where every dish served and every shift worked embodies a commitment to excellence and growth. This dynamic environment is a place where employees don’t just clock in; they build skills, confidence, and careers alongside colleagues who share a profound passion for their craft and collaboration. With a strong focus on purpose, voice, and personal development, Wagamama offers its team members a chance to be part of a workplace that values bold ideas, recognizes effort, and prioritizes ongoing learning. This ethos extends from the food served to the soul of the people behind it, making Wagamama more than a restaurant—it’s a community that feeds both guests and employees alike.

The role of Assistant General Manager at Wagamama is pivotal in supporting the General Manager in the execution of daily restaurant operations, aiming to deliver outstanding guest experiences while upholding the brand's high standards. In this capacity, the Assistant General Manager plays a hands-on role in team leadership, recruitment, training, and development, helping to build a high-performing team that embodies Wagamama’s culture of hospitality and quality. This position requires a well-rounded individual who can ensure consistency in food safety, quality, cleanliness, and service standards throughout each shift. The Assistant General Manager also acts as a key culture leader and steps into full General Manager responsibilities when necessary, making it a vital role for operational success.

Responsibilities include supporting the General Manager with financial performance management, including sales growth, profitability, and labor cost control. The role involves assisting with the creation and execution of an annual operating plan, monitoring results, and adjusting strategies to address any variances. Operationally, the Assistant General Manager is involved in day-to-day duties to maintain smooth restaurant operations and effective staffing levels. Compliance and training are also key aspects, as this role supports onboarding, training programs, and ensures all required compliance training is completed. The use of business tools and technology for operational support, reporting, and record keeping is also a significant part of the role, as is partnering with peers to share best practices and foster collective success.

Overall, the Assistant General Manager role at Wagamama offers a challenging and rewarding career path for individuals passionate about hospitality, leadership, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment. It represents an opportunity to grow professionally while contributing to a team that cares deeply about its people and guests. If you are looking for a career that feeds your future as much as it feeds the community around you, Wagamama is the destination for you.
