Job Description
Wonder is an innovative mealtime platform that revolutionizes how people order and enjoy food. It combines the convenience of multiple exclusive restaurants into a single seamless experience, allowing customers to mix and match hundreds of dishes from over 20 unique culinary concepts in just one order. Whether you're craving tacos, Thai, or any other cuisine, Wonder offers a diverse range of options with zero delivery fees, making it easier than ever to satisfy every craving in a single meal. Customers also have the flexibility to dine in or pick up orders at various Wonder locations to fit their lifestyle preferences.
Wonder sets itself apart by owning and operating every aspect of the dining experience, from recipe development to the proprietary technology that powers the platform. This comprehensive control ensures consistent quality, fast service, and an exceptional variety that is difficult to match in the food service industry. Each dish is made fresh on-site by highly skilled culinary teams and served hot, demonstrating Wonder's commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
The Assistant General Manager role at Wonder is a pivotal position responsible for overseeing the entire day-to-day operation of a Wonder location. This role demands a high degree of accountability and leadership, as you will be managing everything inside the four walls of your store. From kitchen production and service to order fulfillment and the overall customer experience, the Assistant General Manager is charged with ensuring smooth, efficient, and profitable operations during every shift. This is not merely a supporting position; it is one of ownership where the individual is directly responsible for meeting performance goals, maintaining brand standards, and fostering a positive team culture.
In this role, you will lead operational execution across multiple departments, optimizing labor deployment and ensuring your team is prepared to meet customer volume and throughput demands. You’ll proactively analyze operational data and customer feedback, quickly address any issues, and continually seek ways to improve processes. Operational compliance with food safety, labor laws, and health standards is critical, as is maintaining the physical environment to the high standards Wonder sets.
As a leader, the Assistant General Manager will coach and develop hourly team members, emphasizing accountability, safety, and customer service excellence. You will set clear expectations, provide real-time feedback, and manage performance using KPIs and observation to uphold Wonder’s quality and service standards. Collaboration with Senior Operations Leaders on hiring, training, and team development is a vital component of success in this position.
The Assistant General Manager will also drive operational excellence by managing shift readiness, executing brand standards tightly, and precisely implementing new menu rollouts. Financial responsibilities include managing labor costs, food waste, and inventory, while ensuring compliance with relevant labor regulations. This role also plays a key part in talent development and business growth initiatives, including mentoring managers-in-training and supporting new store openings.
Wonder offers this role with a competitive salary range of $74,500 to $86,000 per year, located in Sykesville, MD. The company is deeply committed to an objective and inclusive hiring process, valuing diversity and equitable opportunity. The role requires a hands-on, high-accountability individual with the energy and skill to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where food quality, team performance, and customer satisfaction come first.
