Rail Events Productions (REP), a subsidiary of American Heritage Railways, is a renowned company specializing in creating immersive and unique live experiences centered around historic and cultural themes. One of its signature productions is the "Harry Potterâ„¢: A Hogwarts Express Adventure," an interactive and celebratory experience that uniquely combines theater with the thrill of a moving train. This production includes a full-length performance on a moving train, offering not only entertainment but also an engaging environment where guests can experience the magic of the Harry Potter universe in a tangible and exciting way. The role of Assistant Front of House and Business Manager at Rail Events Productions is a critical position within the company's Rail Events Production and Management division. This is a seasonal, hourly, non-exempt role compensated at $24.50 per hour. The Assistant Front of House and Business Manager acts as a key representative of REP on-site and plays a pivotal role in overseeing front of house operations when the Front of House Manager is unavailable. They are responsible for coordinating various aspects of the business in partnership with REP's Business Manager, as well as liaising with the American Heritage Railways Accounting and Human Resources departments. The role involves oversight of customer service, ticketing, food service, retail operations, and managing communications between production and train operations. Additionally, the position requires managing third-party contractors to ensure seamless operations.
This role demands a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can assist with preproduction planning, manage day-to-day event operations, and participate in postproduction activities such as load-out. The Assistant Manager will supervise Box Office, Food & Beverage, and Retail staff throughout all phases of the event including load-in and load-out. Familiarity with the ticketing system Etix and collaboration with its client service representatives is essential. The Assistant Manager serves as the primary customer service manager when additional support is needed, addressing issues such as onboard seating and passenger concerns. This individual will conduct daily safety briefings, handle incident reporting, and coordinate train departures in conjunction with the Stage Manager.
The position also involves inventory management for amenities through coordination with supervisors, maintaining quality and scheduling in food and beverage services, and ensuring safety compliance among event staff. The Assistant Manager provides support to onboard production and works collectively with the entire event team to maintain a positive and rewarding environment for staff and passengers alike. Effective communication with internal departments, external contractors, and guests is critical to success in this role.

Job Requirements
- Must be 18 or over
- Physically capable of lifting heavy objects
- Experience in front desk, reservation, or customer service
- Ability to problem solve and lead a team in a live show setting
- Experience with special events and managing events
- Strong leadership skills
- Well-spoken manner for in-person communications
- Self-motivated with attention to detail

Job Duties
- Work with the REP management team during preproduction, assist with day-to-day operations during the event, and participate in postproduction load-out
- Maintain oversite of Box Office, Food & Beverage, and Retail Staff during the event as well as throughout load-in and load-out
- Become familiar with the ticketing system Etix
- Work closely with the Etix Client Service Representatives and the Business Manager for all customer and ticketing system needs
- Primary customer service manager when the need arises and FOH Manager needs assistance, including onboard seating issues
- Conduct daily safety briefings and handle all incident reporting for passengers and employees, when FOH Manager needs assistance
- Coordinate with the Stage Manager for a safe release of the train for each departure, be present on the platform upon return, when FOH Manager needs assistance
