The Assistant Front Desk Manager role at Embassy Suites Orlando Lake Buena Vista South is a pivotal leadership position responsible for supporting and overseeing the operations of the Front Office department. This includes managing both the front desk and bell services, ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations. The ideal candidate will possess a dynamic blend of guest service acumen and management skills, playing a critical role in enhancing guest satisfaction, motivating front office personnel, and driving operational success. Responsibilities span from addressing guest issues and facilitating employee scheduling to training new hires and ensuring adherence to hotel policies. The Assistant Front Desk Manager must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of all front office functions, have the ability to maximize room revenue and occupancy, and maintain a positive, organized work environment. This full-time position requires flexibility in work hours, given the dynamic nature of the hospitality industry, and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute meaningfully to one of Orlando's prominent hotel properties.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of progressive management experience in a hotel preferred
  • previous Front Office experience in a hotel required
  • possess outstanding guest services skills and leadership capability
  • detail oriented with outstanding organizational and communication skills
  • able to handle a multitude of tasks in an ever-changing environment
  • effective at listening to, understanding, clarifying, and responding to the concerns raised by guests and members
  • high school diploma
  • able to communicate in the English language
  • able to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks
  • experience using software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • proficient in OnQ (or similar program)
  • physically fit to lift, pull, and push items up to 50 pounds
  • able to stand at a desk for long periods and perform walking, reaching, and bending throughout shift

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • college degree in Administration or Hotel Management preferred
  • minimum 2 years of progressive management experience in a hotel preferred
  • previous Front Office experience in a hotel required
  • outstanding guest services skills and leadership capability
  • detail oriented with outstanding organizational and communication skills
  • effective listening, understanding, clarifying, and responding to guest and member concerns
  • proficient in English, second language a plus
  • experience using software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • proficiency in OnQ or similar hotel management software

Job Duties

  • Promote exceptional customer service
  • oversee all aspects of the Front Office and ensure staffing levels are adequate for the shift
  • assist Front Office staff when needed
  • work hand in hand with the Front Office Manager
  • assist the Front Office staff in the close out of their shift and ensure all areas are up to standards
  • assist in the training and development of new team members, scheduling, and coaching
  • work closely with management from other departments
  • look after the well-being of every guest and take personal responsibility in solving guest problems to ensure a memorable experience
  • uphold the hospitality standards set by the hotel
  • be able to work different shifts and/or functions to accommodate business demands
  • maintain and adhere to company values
