This position is for the Assistant Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager at P.F. Chang's, a full-time, non-exempt role that offers an attractive pay range of $66,008.80 to $86,000.20 annually based on experience, or $23.08 to $30.07 per hour. As the Assistant Executive Chef or Assistant Kitchen Culinary Manager, the successful candidate is responsible for supporting the Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager in managing the restaurant’s culinary team and ensuring smooth kitchen operations. This role involves hands-on leadership in hiring, training, and developing all kitchen staff, as well as overseeing inventory control and food cost management. The position requires a dynamic individual who can work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining safety and quality standards at all times. The Assistant Executive Chef ensures operational excellence by delegating tasks, conducting staff interviews, preparing work schedules, and ensuring continuous staff development. They are also accountable for food quality, timing of orders, kitchen cleanliness, and maintenance of equipment and facilities.

Job Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- 2+ years of culinary management experience
- Experience managing and writing prep lists
- Ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced environment
- Experience managing and developing a team
- Experience in training program execution
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Understanding of inventory and cost management
- Ability to stand and walk for 8 to 10 hours per shift
- Ability to reach, bend, balance, and lift up to 30 lbs repeatedly
- Willingness to work in warm to very warm kitchen temperatures

Job Duties
- Accountable for operational excellence in the kitchen
- Delegates tasks and gives direction to all kitchen staff
- Conducts initial interviews with kitchen management and staff candidates
- Selects, orients, and continually develops all Sous Chefs and kitchen staff
- Prepares work schedules for Sous Chefs and kitchen staff
- Maintains safety certification requirements for all kitchen staff
- Supervises and facilitates all training for food preparation and menu execution
- Maintains product quality standards
- Controls food costs and inventory
- Ensures proper timing and production of food orders
- Conducts performance appraisals for Sous Chefs and kitchen staff
- Enforces dress code standards
- Oversees or completes prep lists and ordering guides
- Completes opening and closing checklists
- Maintains and arranges repairs of kitchen equipment and facility
- Works proficiently at all kitchen stations
- Provides a clean and safe environment for team members and guests
