The position available is the Assistant Sales Leader role at this prestigious Sheraton property. This full-time, management position offers an annual salary ranging from $117,000 to $152,000, with eligibility for bonuses. The role focuses on supporting the property’s group sales efforts specifically for group business, acting as a key player in achieving group revenue goals and maintaining both guest and associate satisfaction. As the assistant leader, the successful candidate will manage a team of on-property Senior Sales Executives and administrative associates. This role is crucial in implementing the brand’s service strategies and initiatives throughout the sales process, ensuring alignment with Marriott’s standards and objectives.

Responsibilities include leading the day-to-day management of the group sales team, focusing on building and maintaining long-term, value-based customer relationships that drive the property’s sales objectives. The role involves up-selling and accurately forecasting revenues related to group functions, including catering and group rooms. The assistant sales leader also serves as the on-property liaison for group sales related to peak room parameters and is expected to negotiate and close group business effectively. This position requires a proactive approach in responding to group and catering opportunities, leveraging market knowledge, competitive analysis, and creative selling techniques to maximize revenue and secure bookings.

This leadership role is also about fostering collaboration with off-property sales channels and internal departments such as operations, catering, and marketing teams to create cohesive sales and marketing plans. The assistant sales leader acts as a representative of the property in various business, strategy, and projection meetings, contributing to business planning and execution of sales tactics. They are responsible for overseeing sales budgets, providing forecasting reports, and assisting with group sales promotions to ensure consistent delivery of Marriott’s customer service standards.

Job Qualifications

  • OR 4-year bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related field with 2 years of sales and marketing experience
  • Demonstrated skills in supervising a sales team
  • Experience in group sales
  • Ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Manage and direct the on-property Senior Sales Executive team to achieve revenue goals
  • Participate in sales leadership teams with Director of Sales and Marketing, Director of Group Sales, and Revenue teams
  • Close group business contracts by negotiating effectively and creatively
  • Achieve group revenue goals by upselling and accurately forecasting revenues for all events
  • Act as the primary contact for resolving customer and contract issues
  • Lead on-site sales inspections and assist in executing corporate and brand initiatives
  • Develop and manage group sales revenue and operation budgets and provide sales forecasts
