This role is essential to ensure that all food service operations run smoothly and meet the highest standards of safety and quality.
As an Assistant Dining Services Manager, you will oversee all aspects of food service provision, assisting with hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating the food service staff. This involves hands-on preparation of meals according to approved menus and recipes, taking special dietary needs of the residents into consideration. The role requires maintaining an in-depth understanding of policies and procedures relevant to food safety, sanitation, and personnel management. You will be responsible for supervising dining staff to ensure compliance with health regulations and community standards, making sure that the kitchen is clean and organized at all times. Managing budgets related to food and supply costs is also a key part of the role, with an emphasis on portion control and minimizing waste.
The Assistant Dining Services Manager acts as a leader in the kitchen, preparing menus, monitoring food temperatures, and ensuring all equipment functions properly. Attention to detail and safety is critical, including reporting any faulty equipment, ensuring proper storage of leftovers, and verifying accurate refrigerator and freezer temperatures. You will play a significant role in training new dining associates and conducting in-service training sessions under the direction of the Dining Services Director. In the absence of the Dining Services Director, you will take on supervisory responsibilities, ensuring the dining operations continue seamlessly.
This position requires a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the community's commitment to continuous service provision. The ideal candidate should be Serv-Safe certified or willing to become certified within the first 60 days of employment, have leadership experience in a dining services environment, preferably within senior living, and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
