The role being described is the Product Sales Specialist Trainer position, a pivotal function within Floor & Decor's retail team. This position is responsible for training and developing Product Sales Specialists to ensure a consistently positive customer experience marked by excellent service and thorough product knowledge. The trainer acts as a mentor and coach, guiding sales staff on company values, safe operational practices, and the fundamental principles of retail including the basic P's: People, Position, Product, Presentation, Price, Promotion, and Purchasing. This role demands excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask in a bustling environment, and a hands-on approach to managing merchandising, pricing, and department organization.
Key duties include instructing staff on product certifications, enforcing compliance with safety standards such as proper lifting and forklift operation, and maintaining clear communication of standard operating procedures. The trainer also plays an integral role in inventory management by coordinating merchandise placement and stock replenishment in the showroom. Beyond staff development, the role involves direct customer interaction including assisting customers with product selections, processing transactions, and providing product education through classes. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- one year of customer service or sales experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- ability to multitask and work in fast-paced environment
- capacity to exert physical effort with lifting up to 60 pounds occasionally
- availability to work during store and pickup hours
- ability to complete forklift proficiency testing
