Job Description
Proper Food is a dynamic and rapidly expanding fast-casual food company dedicated to providing fresh, high-quality meals made from whole, local ingredients. Founded in San Francisco in 2014, Proper Food has grown to operate 16 locations across San Francisco and the South Bay, earning high praise from customers, food critics, and local media alike. The company prides itself on crafting all meals from scratch each morning in its commissary kitchen and delivering these freshly prepared dishes pre-packed and ready for sale at their various stores. Proper Food is committed not only to exceptional food quality but also to social responsibility by donating all unsold meals to local food banks at the end of each day. As Proper Food embarks on its next chapter by expanding into New York City, it aims to redefine 'fast food' through a focus on health-conscious, convenient options that suit time-starved, food-savvy customers.
Join the Commissary team as an Assembly Line Worker in Proper Food's bustling Bushwick, Brooklyn kitchen, where you will be a crucial part of daily meal preparation and packaging operations. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and take pride in producing consistent, high-quality food products. Assembly Line Workers are responsible for assembling and packaging menu items according to recipes and production standards with impeccable attention to detail and care. The position requires strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and quality guidelines to uphold Proper Food's rigorous standards and enhance customer satisfaction. Your work will directly impact the company’s reputation by ensuring every product meets Proper Food’s expectations for portioning, labeling, presentation, and overall freshness.
This full-time role offers a stable schedule working five days per week, including Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with open availability required on Wednesday and Thursday. Proper Food pays $17 per hour for this position, along with providing a generous benefits package including 40 hours of paid time off during the first year, top-tier medical, dental, and vision benefits after two months of full-time employment, and commuter benefits to support your journey to and from work. This is an excellent opportunity to join a company that values diversity, inclusivity, and equal employment opportunities irrespective of race, gender, age, disability, or other protected characteristics. The team culture is welcoming and collaborative, encouraging effective communication and teamwork to meet daily production goals. If you are reliable, detail-oriented, physically capable, and passionate about food, Proper Food's commissary kitchen could be an ideal place to grow your career and contribute to a mission of delivering proper, honest fare to a new audience in NYC.
