The Bakery Associate role at Fresco y Mas plays a vital part in supporting the daily operations within the bakery department. This position is focused on ensuring consistent and compliant operational conditions, providing fresh and attractive bakery products, and delivering courteous, knowledgeable, and quick service to customers. The associate is responsible for creating a welcoming environment where customers feel valued and appreciated, which helps build confidence and loyalty. In addition to maintaining a fresh inventory and preparing bakery products for display and sale, the Bakery Associate ensures that all food safety and sanitation standards are met or exceeded. They are required to operate bakery equipment such as slicers, ovens, scales, knives, and pricing guns safely and effectively. The associate also monitors inventory levels, inspects product quality, and properly handles product discard or markdown processes to reduce waste. Leadership within the department is critical, with associates encouraged to promote teamwork, respect, and adherence to company policies for a safe and productive work environment.

Safety compliance is a crucial part of the role, where the associate must identify and report hazards, ensure personal protective equipment is used properly, and support all safety training initiatives. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain it
  • Successful completion of background check
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Must operate bakery equipment safely and responsibly
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Ability to handle physical demands including standing, walking, reaching, lifting, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing
  • Willingness to work varied shifts including occasional night shifts
  • Compliance with all safety and sanitation protocols
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Willingness to foster an inclusive and respectful work environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 0-3 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, and communication abilities
  • Ability to operate bakery equipment such as slicers, ovens, scales, knives, box cutters, and pricing guns according to company guidelines
  • Ability to communicate in English, Spanish preferred

Job Duties

  • Ensure associates follow all required safety training and use personal protective equipment properly
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned
