Job Description
Thompson Austin and Tommie Austin are two premier lifestyle hotels located in the vibrant heart of Downtown Austin. These luxury hotels offer an unparalleled combination of sophisticated hospitality, distinctive experiences, and a connection to Austin's unique culture and lifestyle. Thompson Austin features 212 luxury guestrooms and suites, along with 17 exclusive residences, and boasts a 10,000 square-foot wellness center, three restaurant and bar concepts, an expansive pool deck with private cabanas, and over 10,000 square feet of flexible event space. Tommie Austin, with its 193 king rooms, caters to the spirited adventurer, encouraging guests to explore Austin’s vibrant surroundings with bespoke amenities such as a coffee and wine shop and flexible guest experiences marked by warm, authentic service.
Within these two exceptional hotels is Arriba Abajo, a cantina-themed bar and restaurant that serves as a lively and inviting destination. Opening in early Spring, this new concept spans 17,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor dining and lounge spaces. It includes multiple private event venues and a pool deck catering to hotel guests and residents, offering a dynamic environment for both dining and socializing. This setting drives the demand for skilled hospitality professionals committed to delivering excellence and authentic guest experiences.
The Line Cook position at Arriba Abajo requires a professional with strong culinary skills and a rich understanding of kitchen operations. The ideal candidate boasts hotel cooking experience coupled with a culinary degree, allowing them to masterfully prepare consistent, high-quality dishes. This role involves working independently at single kitchen stations while being open to supervision and ongoing training. The Line Cook must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of cooking ingredients, procedures, and culinary techniques as well as hold the capability to monitor daily food production, maintain quality and consistency, manage staffing levels, and support department training initiatives. This role is pivotal in upholding the culinary standards of Thompson Austin and Tommie Austin, ensuring guests receive exceptional meals and service.
Candidates for this role should also possess excellent communication skills, cost control know-how, organizational ability, computer proficiency, and experience in guest contact. They must be ready to lead kitchen operations in the absence of the hourly Sous Chef. Working at these hotels means engaging in a culture that values personalized, intuitive service, and embracing the spirit of Austin through culinary artistry and guest interaction. The Line Cook is an essential part of the culinary team dedicated to creating memorable dining moments that enhance guests' personal travel journeys and local exploration experiences. This full-time role offers a chance to be a part of a prestigious hospitality group that rewards performance and offers extensive benefits suited to career growth and well-being.
