Job Description
Amazon is a global leader in e-commerce and logistics, dedicated to providing customers with exceptional service through innovative technology and robust operational networks. The company operates an extensive worldwide operations network that spans first mile, middle mile, and last mile delivery processes, ensuring that millions of packages reach customers efficiently and reliably every day. Amazon’s commitment to customer satisfaction is reflected in its precise focus on timely and accurate deliveries, safety, and operational excellence. This commitment shapes every facet of its logistics operations, from warehousing and transporting goods to the final doorstep delivery. The company continuously invests in expanding its operations footprint, launching new sites that offer career opportunities and empower employees to grow professionally.
Amazon is currently seeking motivated, customer-focused individuals to join their team as Area Managers. This full-time, salaried position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $72,500 to $90,900 based on experience, qualifications, and location, along with sign-on bonuses and restricted stock units (RSUs). Area Managers at Amazon play a critical leadership role in managing a team of hourly employees and are responsible for driving high standards in safety, quality, attendance, and overall performance during each shift. In this role, you will engage and mentor your workforce regularly, fostering a supportive and productive environment that aligns with Amazon’s customer promise.
The Area Manager role lies within Amazon's dynamic operations workflow, which is divided into three major components: the first mile where products are stored and prepared for orders; the middle mile where the products are transported within the distribution network; and the last mile which focuses on delivering orders directly to customers' doors. Although workflows may differ slightly from site to site, the unifying factor is Amazon’s unwavering dedication to exceeding customer expectations. The successful candidate will be involved in managing these operational activities while collaborating closely with other teams such as Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance, and Human Resources to achieve business goals and continuously improve the operation.
In addition to leadership and operational responsibilities, Area Managers are expected to maintain physical activity levels including lifting up to 49 pounds, standing and walking for up to 12 hours, working in environments with variable noise levels and temperatures, and frequently climbing stairs where applicable. These physical demands highlight the hands-on nature of the position within fast-paced fulfillment centers and delivery stations. Amazon also values diversity and inclusion, promoting an inclusive work culture that empowers all employees. They provide workplace accommodations for applicants with disabilities and equal opportunity employment practices.
Overall, this Area Manager opportunity at Amazon is ideal for those looking to develop a career in operations management within a high-energy, customer-centric environment. With comprehensive benefits such as health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave, Amazon supports the well-being and growth of its employees. Candidates who thrive in fast-moving environments and possess strong leadership skills will find the chance to impact Amazon's logistical success and customer satisfaction positively in this role.
