The Area General Manager role in Santa Fe Springs is a critical leadership position responsible for ensuring the smooth operational management of the site. Acting as the primary on-site leader and client liaison, the Area General Manager takes accountability for the seamless coordination of activities that promote operational excellence, financial performance, and customer satisfaction. This position manages subordinate managers, supervisors, and frontline staff, guaranteeing adherence to both Sodexo and client standards.

The role requires strategic oversight of daily operations including resource allocation, project planning, and implementation of new technologies and processes to optimize efficiency. The Area General Manager also reviews operational reports to comply fully with federal, state, and local regulations as well as organizational policies. Driving financial success is a core responsibility; this includes developing and maintaining business plans and budgets aligned with corporate and client goals, reviewing financial statements, profit and loss accounts, and leveraging data for informed decision-making.

Building and maintaining strong client relationships is another key focus. The Area General Manager will serve as the main point of contact, supporting contract negotiations and fostering positive, mutually beneficial partnerships. Additionally, leadership extends to team development through succession planning, employee training, counseling, and promoting diversity and inclusion initiatives across the site.

Job Duties

  • Monitor on-site operations to ensure sufficient resources, plan projects, and implement new processes and technologies
  • review and maintain operational reports to guarantee full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Sodexo and client policies
  • provide high-level leadership to the unit, maintaining strong client retention and service standards
  • identify and implement strategies to drive top-line revenue growth, expand services, and identify upselling or new business opportunities within the location
  • develop and maintain the annual business plan and operational budget in alignment with organizational and client goals
  • review and analyze financial statements, P&L, and data to ensure the attainment of financial targets for both the client and Sodexo
  • serve as the central point of contact for the client, fostering a solid, mutually beneficial business partnership
  • assist in contract negotiations and maintain open, consistent communication regarding all account operations
  • oversee system succession planning, employee development, constructive counseling, and staff training initiatives
  • promote, support, and champion workplace diversity and inclusion initiatives across the site
