The Area Chef role at Aramark is a crucial leadership position responsible for overseeing culinary operations across multiple locations within a designated region that includes Missouri, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Florida. Based out of St. Louis, Missouri, this role requires extensive travel—between 50% and 75%—to ensure culinary excellence and brand consistency at various sites. The Area Chef will supervise team members, drive brand and menu standards, and enforce stringent safety and sanitation protocols. This position plays a pivotal role in training kitchen personnel, managing food quality, developing recipes, and supporting overall operational efficiency. The Area Chef will also be responsible for hiring, mentoring, conducting performance reviews, and influencing pay decisions for kitchen staff, reinforcing Aramark's mission to foster employee growth and deliver exceptional service.
In addition to operational duties, the Area Chef will be involved in menu planning and pricing, developing standardized recipes to maintain quality, and ensuring adherence to equipment maintenance and safety standards. While primarily a leadership role, the Area Chef may participate in cooking or culinary demonstrations for up to 20% of working time, including coordinating special catering events and offering culinary instruction. The position demands expertise in food and labor cost control, culinary team development, and P&L management or contract-managed service experience. Job Duties
- Train and lead kitchen personnel
- estimate food consumption and requisition or purchase food
- select and develop recipes as well as standardize production recipes to ensure consistent quality
- establish presentation technique and quality standards
- plan and price menus
- ensure accurate equipment operation and maintenance
- ensure accurate safety and sanitation in kitchen
- cook selected items no more than 20 percent of the time
- coordinate special catering events and offer culinary instruction and/or demonstrate culinary techniques
- directly supervise kitchen personnel including hiring, mentoring, performance reviews, and initiating pay increases
