This role focuses on joining the Enterprise Operations & Technology team, a critical division responsible for developing and maintaining the technological infrastructure that supports Citi's global operations and customer experience. The position is based in Tampa, Florida, and is a full-time opportunity with a competitive salary ranging from $96,960 to $145,440 annually. The position available is for a Lead Java Developer to support the Regulatory Reporting Hub, a crucial application ensuring the organization complies with global regulatory requirements across its financial activities. This role involves developing and enhancing Risk and Finance dashboards that provide analytical insights to senior management and support vital business workflows. The ideal candidate will have between 6 and 10 years of experience in enterprise-level Java development, along with strong technical expertise and excellent collaboration skills to work effectively across business and technology teams.

The Lead Java Developer will play a significant role in shaping architectural decisions, mentoring junior developers, and ensuring the reliability and quality of systems critical to Citibank's regulatory compliance. The job encompasses front-end and back-end development, system design, code quality assurance, and active participation in agile development processes. Responsibilities also include liaising with business users to gather requirements, managing testing strategies including User Acceptance Testing, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders through regular status updates and steering committee reports.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field
  • 6-10 years of enterprise-level Java development experience
  • strong expertise in Core Java, Spring Framework, Spring MVC, and J2EE
  • proficiency with Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, and Cloudera Ecosystem (Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Impala)
  • knowledge of RESTful Web Services, XSD, JSON, and server-side integration patterns
  • skills in front-end technologies including JavaScript, AngularJS, HTML5, CSS, and AJAX
  • experience developing multi-threaded, high-performance applications
  • understanding of software design patterns and architecture
  • experience with WebSphere and WASND web servers
  • familiarity with SVN and Bitbucket source control
  • strong data analysis skills with Microsoft Excel and Access
  • experience in banking, financial services, or compliance sector preferred

Job Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience delivering enterprise-level Java development projects, with expert-level proficiency in Core Java, Spring Framework, Spring MVC, and J2EE
  • Demonstrated expertise in Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, and the Cloudera Ecosystem (Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Impala)
  • Strong proficiency in RESTful Web Services, XSD, JSON, and server-side integration patterns
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies including JavaScript, AngularJS, HTML5, CSS, and AJAX
  • Experience developing high-performance, multi-threaded applications with a solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and operating systems
  • Solid knowledge of software design patterns and the ability to apply them to resolve complex architectural and design challenges
  • Experience with web application servers, specifically WebSphere and WASND
  • Familiarity with source code management tools, including SVN and Bitbucket
  • Strong data analysis skills, with hands-on experience using tools such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access
  • Experience in the banking, financial services, or compliance sector is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting, trade processing flows, and the regulatory impact of operational processing is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and business stakeholders

Job Duties

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Java/J2EE web applications supporting Risk and Finance regulatory reporting workflows
  • Build and enhance front-end components of dashboard applications using JavaScript, AngularJS, HTML5, CSS, and AJAX
  • Participate in and contribute to architectural design discussions, proposing solutions to complex technical and design challenges
  • Review code quality, identify and remediate defects, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members
  • Critically evaluate existing processing pipelines and recommend improvements to drive efficiency and performance enhancements
  • Liaise with business users to gather, document, and translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Collaborate with technology partners and cross-functional teams to implement reconciliation processes and ensure business requirements are met
  • Define and execute testing strategies, including managing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and providing post-implementation support
  • Lead weekly status review calls with stakeholders to track progress, maintain issues logs, and follow up on action items to ensure timely completion
  • Provide reporting inputs for bi-weekly steering committee updates, including project status, financials, and escalations as appropriate
  • Work within an Agile delivery environment, contributing to sprint planning, reviews, and continuous improvement practices
