The Mealsite Manager position at Outagamie County is a part-time, hourly role operating Monday through Thursday from approximately 10 AM to 1:30 PM, situated at the Mary Beth Nienhaus Activity Center in Appleton, WI. This critical role supervises and manages the Nutrition Program's congregate and home-delivered meal services for individuals aged 60 and older. The incumbent is responsible for a multifaceted set of duties involving food service management, volunteer coordination, direct participant interaction, and adherence to state and federal Nutrition Program rules and regulations. This position is ideal for a candidate who is community-oriented, possesses excellent customer service skills, and has experience working with seniors or persons with disabilities. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate adaptability, multitasking ability, and sound judgment.
The role involves overseeing meal reservations and cancellations, coordinating volunteers to facilitate meal service, collecting participant donations, and maintaining thorough record-keeping for the Nutrition Program, ensuring timely submissions. The Mealsite Manager must foster an informative and welcoming environment by keeping program participants informed on issues and activities related to aging through announcements and bulletin postings. There is also responsibility for arranging meal site programming that may include nutrition education, health and wellness activities, social events, and recreational opportunities.
Furthermore, the position requires managing home-delivered meal services, including conducting in-home assessments to determine eligibility and overseeing volunteers and food transporters involved in meal delivery. The Mealsite Manager must regularly attend mandatory staff meetings and trainings and is expected to maintain dependable attendance and the flexibility to work extra hours when necessary. This role also offers mileage reimbursement at the IRS rate and emphasizes confidentiality when handling program information.

Job Requirements
- Graduation from high school or GED
- Experience working with older persons and/or persons with disabilities
- Supervisory experience
- Food service experience
- Serving Safe Food certification and renewal
- Ability to relate and communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments
- Ability to perform duties dependably
- Knowledge of community resources
- Ability to oversee and work cooperatively with others
- Ability to follow instructions and be flexible to change
- Ability to maintain nutrition program confidentiality
- Ability to perform accurate and timely record keeping
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects up to 20 lbs up to 10 times per shift using proper body mechanics
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or GED with experience working with older persons and/or persons with disabilities, supervisory and food service experience
- Serving Safe Food certification and renewal
Job Duties
- Accept telephone meal reservations, cancellations and home delivered meal service referrals
- Oversee volunteers to assist with meal service
- Collect and deposit nutrition program participant donation revenue
- Compile and maintain accurate nutrition program record keeping and submit records in a timely manner
- Inform nutrition program participants about current information and issues affecting older persons through bulletin board postings, handouts, and announcements
- Arrange meal site programming including nutrition education, health, wellness, social and recreational activities
- Perform in-home assessments to determine home delivered meal service eligibility
- Oversee and coordinate home delivered meal service operation including managing volunteers and food transporters
- Attend mandatory monthly staff meetings
- Attend other trainings and/or meetings as required
- Report meal site conflicts and issues to the nutrition program supervisor
- Advise nutrition program supervisor on nutrition program policies and procedures
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance, working extra hours as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
