The Leasing Consultant role in Baton Rouge, LA, paying $16 per hour, is an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to launch or advance a career in property management. Leasing Consultants serve as key ambassadors for residential communities, responsible for creating an exceptional living experience for residents by efficiently managing leasing processes, providing outstanding customer service, and partnering with the property management team. This position reports directly to the property manager and entails a variety of duties designed to support resident satisfaction and business success. The role includes greeting prospective residents, conducting tours, assisting with leasing applications and agreements, and ensuring all leasing documentation is properly processed. Leasing Consultants also collect security deposits and rent, communicate community policies, and actively follow up with leads to maximize occupancy.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and exposure to social media
  • Knowledge of leasing software a plus including Yardi, Blue Moon, Entrata, Onesite, MRI, etc
  • Ability to work weekends as required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in retail, sales, customer service, real estate, or leasing preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn and use leasing software such as Yardi, Blue Moon, Entrata, Onesite, or MRI
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work weekends as required

Job Duties

  • Greet prospective residents and give tours while determining housing needs, preferences, and closing leads
  • Assist new residents with leasing paperwork, including applications, lease agreements, and employment/credit checks
  • Collect security deposits, rent, and any other charges associated with resident move-ins
  • Communicate all lease and community policies to new and current residents
  • Follow up with all leads and prospects that did not lease
  • Ensure apartments are move-in ready by inspecting and adding last-minute touches when appropriate
  • Seek out new residents with creative marketing techniques
  • Manage the lease renewal process and retention efforts
  • Respond promptly to calls, emails, and inquiries
