Job Description

Baker Hughes is a global energy technology company serving the oil and gas sector in more than 120 countries. With a rich history spanning over a century, Baker Hughes innovates to deliver safer, cleaner, and more efficient energy solutions worldwide. The company is committed to digital transformation and energy transition, leveraging data-driven insights to optimize performance and maximize customer value. Its Commercial & Sales organization focuses on growth by building strong customer partnerships, commercializing hydrocarbons, and delivering integrated equipment and service solutions.

The Americas Service Manager Leader role is pivotal in driving outage excellence across the Americas region, which includes the United States, Canada, and Latin America. Reporting directly to the GTS Regional Operations Director, this leadership position oversees all field service outage preparations and executions, covering Critical Services, Texas operations, and system upgrades. The role demands a blend of strategic planning, operational leadership, and hands-on management to ensure the safe, on-time, and high-quality completion of outages.

This position is tasked with leading and supporting regional Service Managers in the meticulous planning and flawless execution of both planned and unplanned outages. It also involves implementing outage excellence processes and serving as the regional liaison for communication with the Center of Excellence (CoE) and other global regions. The Americas Service Manager Leader is responsible for unifying the outage excellence process across the region, enhancing key performance indicators (KPIs), driving productivity, and maintaining high standards of field quality through consistent review cycles.

Key responsibilities include integrating and developing execution processes that align with business objectives, managing complex operational challenges, and contributing to long-term strategic planning. The role collaborates closely with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) teams to uphold safety standards and monitor outage safety performance, and with Quality teams to collect lessons learned and best practices for continuous improvement. Ensuring timely outage completion, resolving customer issues, and delivering superior customer satisfaction are central to this role.

The leader will also oversee outage events from start to finish, including defining scopes of work, organizing and scheduling, optimizing outage durations and costs, managing resources such as field service engineers, contractors, and suppliers, and supervising mobilization plans. Proactive review of outages with service managers, technological integration through smart applications and digital platforms, and interfacing with sales, finance, and project teams on financial management and opportunity identification are critical components of the role.

The position demands strong technical and leadership skills, the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in cross-functional teams, and a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence. The Americas Service Manager Leader supports talent development by coaching service managers and senior field service engineers, fostering leadership skills, and guiding career progression.

This role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a high school diploma with 10 years of industrial experience in the oil and gas field. Candidates must have a solid background in HSE and Quality, experience managing complex outages involving gas and steam turbines, compressors, generators, and auxiliary systems, and a proven track record in outage or site management within the oil and gas industry. English fluency and willingness to travel are essential.

Baker Hughes promotes a collaborative and flexible work environment, encouraging co-location in their UK offices while offering adaptable work patterns. Employees benefit from comprehensive health and welfare programs, private medical care, life insurance, disability plans, and financial planning options. The company values diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring equitable employment opportunities for all candidates.

Joining Baker Hughes means being part of an innovative team that challenges the status quo and pushes the boundaries of energy technology to create a safer, cleaner energy future.
