Job Description
Aggreko is a global leader in providing temporary power, heating, cooling, and oil-free air solutions. Serving a diverse range of industries and applications, from short-term world-class events like the NFL, NBA, golf tournaments, and college sports, to long-term service in mining operations and remote communities, Aggreko ensures uninterrupted energy supply. With a commitment to innovation, safety, and customer service, Aggreko operates an elite team of technicians and support staff dedicated to maintaining power without pause and delivering exceptional on-site service.
The role of Technician 1 Temp Control or Power is a pivotal position within Aggreko's operations, based in any US city with a major airport. This home-based opportunity requires extensive travel, up to 75%, including the possibility of being away for extended periods. The technician will be integral in supporting a wide variety of projects, including major broadcast events with well-known networks like ESPN, NBC, and CBS, utilities customers, and refinery turnaround teams. The role involves installing, commissioning, servicing, and repairing generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, HVAC systems, and oil-free air (OFA) systems. Technicians will be responsible for specialized broadcast power support, working closely with technical managers from broadcast companies to meet unique site requirements and tight timelines.
Technicians also engage in troubleshooting equipment failures both on-site at events and in service centers, utilizing their expertise in electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals to ensure timely and budget-compliant repairs and maintenance. The role demands a strong focus on safety, with adherence to OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards to maintain safe working environments. In addition to technical skills, excellent interpersonal and communication abilities are essential, as technicians represent the company directly to clients and must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. The opportunity offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $30 to $45, a $2.50 per hour travel allowance, annual bonuses, and premium medical plan options. Employees benefit from robust in-person and virtual technical training programs across a range of disciplines, including diesel, gas, compressed air, electrical systems, controls, microgrid and storage technologies, and HVAC.
Aggreko fosters a safety-focused culture and provides career growth opportunities, including tuition reimbursement. The company values resilience, positivity, and a can-do attitude among its employees. This role is ideal for those with at least five years of experience working on power generators, commercial HVAC equipment, and chillers, particularly with a background in broadcast power support for live events. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with valid certifications such as a driver's license and potentially a TWIC or DOT medical card based on customer requirements. Physical ability to move or lift objects typically weighing less than 75 pounds is also necessary. Aggreko is an equal employment opportunity employer welcoming diverse backgrounds and cultures and promoting an inclusive workplace where everyone can be themselves and contribute to the company's success.
