Job Description
Childhood Cancer Society (CCS) is a distinguished national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to supporting families facing the challenges of pediatric cancer both financially and emotionally. Founded with the mission to create meaningful, life-changing moments for children and their families in difficult times, CCS uses various impactful strategies such as fundraising events, wish-granting experiences, and cultivating strategic partnerships. With the guidance and support of its official spokes-bear, Adventure Ted, the organization uniquely connects with the community and donor base to ensure that families receive timely and compassionate assistance. CCS continues to expand its outreach through innovative programming and dedicated service, striving to alleviate the burdens cancer imposes on young children and their loved ones. The organization is currently preparing for two highlighted initiatives: a high-profile charity golf outing hosted at the prestigious Trump National Golf Club and an elegant annual fundraising dinner event that includes participation from the Mayor of Saddle River, NJ. These flagship events are central to CCS’s strategy of raising awareness and critical funds to further their charitable work.
The role offered is an integral position within the Adventure Ted Partnerships & Events Council, which is a focused, performance-driven team designed to spearhead outreach, partnership development, and community engagement initiatives tied specifically to CCS’s hallmark events. As a member of this select council, individuals will enjoy the unique opportunity to work directly alongside the Founder and Chief Media Officer of CCS, contributing firsthand to real-time outreach efforts, securing sponsorship deals, and assisting in the comprehensive execution of major fundraising events. This position demands proactive ownership, excellent communication skills, and a results-oriented approach—qualities that differentiate it from traditional internships. Responsibilities involve dynamic interaction with local businesses, brands, venues, and service providers, emphasizing relationship-building and sustained collaboration. Team members also coordinate with internal Communications and Creative departments to ensure a cohesive event strategy and outreach messaging. Additionally, successful participation in this role can lead to advanced opportunities within CCS, including paid Ambassador roles tied to revenue-generating projects and potential longer-term engagement as Associates within the organization. With a commitment of approximately 15 to 20 hours per week and structured weekly meetings, this position offers challenging yet rewarding experience for motivated individuals eager to contribute meaningfully to a mission-driven nonprofit. Ideal candidates are confident communicators, self-starters, and passionate about advancing community support for pediatric cancer families through innovative partnership and event strategies.
