The position being offered is that of an Admin Clerk specializing in referral management within a healthcare administrative setting. This full-time role requires an active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain one, along with United States citizenship as mandated by the governmental client. The estimated starting salary is $38,604.80, with pay commensurate with experience. The Admin Clerk is responsible for tracking and obtaining specialty care and deferred to network primary care referrals, securing clear and legible reporting (CLR) from military treatment facilities, network, and non-network providers. The role involves following up on CLR referrals within 60 days and ensuring completion no later than 180 days after the order entry. The Admin Clerk imports and scans CLR documents into the appropriate medical records, liaises with specialty care providers who have not completed referrals according to set business rules, and prepares referral management data reports and metrics using referral tracking data tools.
This role requires strong administrative and clerical skills, proficiency in general office tasks, telephone etiquette, and professional customer service to support both patients and staff effectively. The candidate should have operational computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft applications such as Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook, and preferably some knowledge of medical terminology and computer applications like MHS Genesis. The position demands a minimum of one year of healthcare administrative experience in inpatient or outpatient settings within the last three years, a high school diploma or GED equivalency, and the ability to demonstrate general medical ethics and communication skills. Job Duties
- track and obtain initial specialty care and deferred to network primary care referrals
- obtain clear legible reporting (CLR) from military treatment facilities, network and non-network providers
- chase CLRs no later than 60 days from referral entry or claim evidence
- complete CLR upload no later than 180 calendar days after order entry date
- import and scan CLRs into correct patient medical records
- follow up with specialty care providers who did not complete CLR referral results per business rules
- prepare referral management data reports and metrics using referral tracking tools
