Job Description

The City of Avondale is seeking an Administrative Assistant (Community Engagement) in the Neighborhood & Family Services Department. This position plays a crucial role in supporting various programs within the department, particularly at the Arizona Complete Health Avondale Resource Center, by managing front desk operations, assisting with programs and services, supporting community outreach and special events, and coordinating room reservations. The role involves administrative duties and occasional work outside regular business hours.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency required
  • bachelor's degree in human services, Social Work, Public Administration, or Recreation preferred
  • 2 years of relevant experience in human services programs, community education, outreach, and event planning
  • valid Arizona Operator's Driver's License
  • ability to pass a background check
  • obtain Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card within 30 days of hire
  • First Aid/CPR certification and Maricopa Food Handler's Certification within 60 days of hire
  • pass pre-employment physical examination and periodic physical examinations
  • proficiency in spoken and written Spanish preferred
  • existing Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card from the Arizona Department of Public Safety preferred
