The position of Bakery Manager is a pivotal role within our retail bakery, tasked with overseeing all bakery department operations to meet company standards and merchandising plans. As a Bakery Manager, you will be responsible for driving labor efficiency, sales, and gross profit margins aligned with store objectives. The role demands a leader who can build strong partnerships with store leadership, manage inventory effectively, ensure product quality, and maintain a clean and appealing sales floor environment. You will be integral in ensuring that bakery offerings are fresh and attractive, while minimizing shrinkage and optimizing sales opportunities.
This position requires hands-on management of bakery functions such as ordering product based on department needs, ensuring accurate pricing, and adherence to company marketing strategies. The Bakery Manager will supervise food safety compliance and hygiene, maintain equipment and storage areas, and enforce health department standards at all times. Training and development of team members are essential elements of this role, including timely onboarding of new hires and ongoing coaching to elevate performance. Scheduling personnel to meet varied customer demands while controlling labor costs is also a key responsibility.
Candidates for this position should have preferred experience in retail bakery settings, alongside relevant certifications such as ServeSafe or a comparable food safety credential. Physical stamina is necessary due to the nature of bakery work which includes lifting heavy items, standing for long durations, and operating in temperature-controlled environments. Excellent communication and organizational skills are imperative to meet customer expectations and support a collaborative team environment. This is a full-time position offering a competitive hourly wage starting at $22.00, with adjustments based on experience. The role requires flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred one year retail bakery experience
- ServeSafe certification or comparable
- Ability to lift up to 80-85lbs
- Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily
- Ability to work in varying temperature controlled environments
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays

Job Duties
- Builds and maintains customer satisfaction with the product and services offered by the company
- Maintain a happy, full, fresh and clean sales floor department
- Order product in conjunction with department and customer needs
- Follow company marketing plan and ensuring product freshness, minimal shrink while optimizing sales
- Build partnership with leadership and discuss opportunities for business growth
- Inventory management of products within the Bakery Department
- Receive product ensuring quality control
- Ensure displayed product is replenished and rotated appropriately
- Offer product samples and suggestions for consumption
- Provide recipe advice to enhance additional sales
- Process product to accent freshness and customer eye appeal
- Ensure pricing is accurate and following company guidelines
- Maintain sales floor, preparation, equipment and storage areas that are clean, orderly and meeting company and health department standards at all times
- Ensure timely and consistent training for new hires, promotions, performance opportunities
- Identify/recommend teammates for higher levels of responsibility
- Recommend and perform corrective steps for below acceptable teammate behaviors on the job
- Schedule personnel to meet customer demands, while maintaining company budgets
- Adhere to all company safety standards
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
